Something not right?

Description

Absolutely horrible road, do not attempt with RVs like we did... This is the place the forest sign stands and has a pull out. We parked it here and did not bother go on. Be warned ⚠️

Absolutely do not stop here! Miserable washboard up to this point, but here you enter the national forest and it's hard packed dirt road from here on. Very navigable, lots of accessible campsites. Gets prettier the farther you go.

Don’t go there! Horrible and it’s a dangerous road with no service!

I tried, but no. the washboarding is for real. 2 miles in and I turned around couldn't imagine another 6 +

Absolutely stunning camping up the road. The Gravel Road is FINE. Yes aprox 1 mile is slightly washboarded. I went 20 MPH the whole drive up to the MANY beautiful forested pull out sites past the N.F. Sign. Park Rangers actually sent me here & it was a great recommendation.

Agree with others comments, definitely wouldnt attempt this road and would go elsewhere had I read this earlier. The roads terribly washboarded and even going 5mph it still knocked around my suv badly, I tried 20-35 as well and still just as bad if not, worse. Cant go around since the entire ground is covered in it for miles. I stopped here for the night and didnt find this place worth jacking up my car.

You can still go to chiricauhua, the road to the actual monument itself its paved, no dirt roads, I was concerned about that and almost didnt go until I looked closer at the map to see how the roads were and theyre fully concrete

really rough road. absolutely no signal even with booster.

There are many many excellent sites past this point along Pinery Canyon road. I took the road nice and slow as there is a lot of washboard sections and potholes to avoid. Nothing preventing my FWD van from making it, just slow and easy. The creek was clear, cold and flowing well in March. The sites are beautiful and quiet. Some sites right next to the creek. Well worth it to keep traveling past this sign.

loads of great spots along this area. probably even better if there's water in the Creek.

Report Check-In

Stopped here just for the night while visiting chiricahua. Didn't bother going further, since we weren't staying long, but the road wasn't too bad in a van. went ~30 mph and was able to avoid the worst of the washboarding by sticking to certain parts of the road. But I don't think this would have worked on a vehicle with a wider wheel base like an rv or bus. I second this person's warning if you're in a bigger rig
