Less than 1km after the argentinian border, there is a small lake with a beach. It is a bit dirt, but a nice place if you get stuck late at the border.
There are several places where you can hide, so you aren't visible from the road ( on the other beach you are directly beside the road) . we just wanted to stay here for lunch, but spend a hole night. just take the road which signs for an official camping place ( 1.5km further on a river) - once you are down you see the very beautiful small lake on the right side. there are lots of trees for shadow. on the main road, very close to this place in the direction to the boarder, there is a small river with fresh water.

Still beautiful and very large. Everything is clean. Perfect for an early trip to the border.
Report Check-InThis place is Great, has plenty of space (big area). Nobody bother
Report Check-InNice stop to eat everything they won’t let in before crossing the border.
Report Check-InReally nice area next to the lake. We arrived around 2PM and took an icy swim before hand washing a few items and cooking our vegetables before crossing into Chile the following day. A few day use visitors left before 9PM and one small car arrived late and spent the night, very tranquil. We walked the 1/2KM to the more secluded spot mentioned in another comment on this entry but decided against staying at it since it was a Friday, two cars later drove down to it and we never saw them leave. No rangers, police, or anyone official came by. The line for the border is visible from the beach.
Report Check-InNice clean place. But a Guardaparque showed up in the afternoon. Tent -Camping and fires aren't allowed. And "officialy" camp in car aswell not. But he was kind and let us stay and sleep in the car for a night. Keep this place clean and be aware to get asked from the guardes.
Report Check-InBit dirty but ok. Completly empty. Dusty during windy days.
Report Check-InA bit dirty but completly empty. In windy days you need to hide behind trees and bushes.
Report Check-InFrom the big area you can take the narrow track right hand side. It takes you to a hidden spot 500 meters away at the same lake. It‘awesome! We spent a peacefull night there.
