Something not right?

Description

Spot on top of a hill, overlooking the central valley with the panamericana, and on clear nights, the milky way above and beyond. Get there uphill, on a dirt road, 4x4 isn't necessary, big rigs depending on the driver. The view is wonderful, the noise from the valley distant, nobody around, not counting the odd mounted Ariero, the local cowboy.

Latest Check-Ins

Good quiet spot for wild camping. We didn't see anyone during our one night stay. The access road is off of H-778 (La Cornellana), on an access road that leads to the white steel cross overlooking the valley below. Starting at Rte. 66, take H-778 to the East. When the pavement ends, drive 700 meters, then veer right and follow the unnamed road along the edge of the vineyard. There's a newly cut road that leads to the cross, but the best site is on the left, around 450 meters up the unnamed road. Recent rains have washed many deep ruts in the road. We arrived after it had rained and the road tested the limits of our Suzuki Vitara. When dry, a 2wd should be fine, but 4x4 may be necessary if snowing or raining. We saw several horses the morning of our stay. No bathrooms, electricity or water nearby so be prepared. Great views, if not covered in fog. You can hear occasional road noise from Rte. 66 but far enough in the distance to not be bothersome.

Very Nice spot. We arrived by night and it was easier than expected to find. We spent a day there. It was really chill and quiet !

Very nice spot. Camped here for one night with a rooftop tent. Indeed also fine without 4x4.

There is a new road along the fence of the bodega that gives a much better access to the spot.
It’s popular with the locals, but cleaner than usual. Good view of the valley.
It is very bowl shaped, so flat spots can be a challenge.
Big rigs should be ok with the new road.

Report Check-In

Checked in to check the coordinates. Google maps was imprecise. Go up until you see the entrance to the bodega, but turn right up the dirt road.
During the day can be windy, and when windy, you can't open the windows, and with the sun, no way to stay in the car with the windows closed (unless running the AC). So not a place for summer days.
