Description

There are 4 monarch sanctuaries, but this one is a "new" one! They waited for an official inauguration around August 2022. Not a lot of people and SO amazing! People are really kind!!! El Campamento is a "pueblocito" of around 1000 people. There's a hike of around 2 hours, entrance fee 50$ pesos/pers (20$/kid) + guide 300$ pesos. If you want horses, it is 300$ pesos/horse go-and-back. It worths it +++. Butterflies arrive each year at the beginning of December and leave between March 15th and March 20th (!!). We let a tip for the guys after the activity and ask if we can stay for the night : they charge us nothing more. A neighbor, Manuel, let us use his toilet and water. Again, THEY ARE SO KIND and lovely. The view around the pueblo is beautiful. We came with 4 kids between 1 and 11 years old and it was such an incredible experience. Just come and ask for the hike. I think we were the first RV they saw! Please be respectful and remember that the money that you give help the people here and help for the conservation of the butterflies.
