Description
We got stuck in the crazy Fort Myers Beach traffic a few years back and pulled into the Beach Baptist Church & Retreat Center to get the kids off the bus for a few minutes and we met Pastor Shawn. That led to a FREE night of unofficial camping. We’ve now been back several times as the Church has several unofficial RV spots. Plenty of room to pull your rig in for a night or two. If you pull in late, park behind the Church along the north grassy area along the bushes and check in with Pastor Shawn in the morning. He’ll direct you where you can fill up with water, dump your tanks, grab a hot shower, and park for another night or two. Directly across from Beach Access 22. Besides hitting the beach from there, you can bike to the pier and city “square” in about 10 minutes and to the Publix in about 5 minutes (on a bike).

Note: there is a Farmer’s Market on Wednesday and Friday mornings, the parking can get tight on both of those days, but you’ll get to enjoy a local market.

Beautiful spot. Right across from the beach. Traffic can get bad, only 2 lanes. Otherwise it’s perfect!
Report Check-InIncredible location and friendly people. Hurricane Ian sadly destroyed the church in late 2022. This was set up as a disaster relief site and as of early 2024, there is still a large white tent operating as the church and a food pantry providing supplies to local people. We initially pulled in the back parking lot but were requested to park in the front lot near the main road. We stayed two nights and gave a donation in exchange for this lovely spot super close to the beach. This spot is a gem so treat it with respect.
Report Check-Inclose to Fort Myers. Electricity available, but need a long cord to reach pole on opposite side of parking area. Everything free shop in church tent, but please be considerate and leave for needy. Donate to help others.
It’s a great location just across from the beach. The beach is spectacular! I wish we had more time to stay another night.
Traffic is terrible depending on the time you’re planning to arrive, but very quiet at night.
There are bathrooms during the day.

Called Pastor Shawn and got ok to stay. Church is currently in a tent due to hurricane last year. We made a donation to the Church for letting us stay. Flat location across the street is beach.

Report Check-InThis site is available. My phone app says it is closed. I talked with Pastor Shawn today and he says people are welcome to stay. There is a 110 outlet at
the end of the parking lot close to the road. The lot is good size. There are two porta potties outside the large tent where they are having church services.

We messaged Shawn and he welcomed us to stay. We rolled into the lot in the dark so we couldn’t see all the destruction, but this area was hit hard by the hurricane. The church was set up as a FEMA Disaster Relief center. They have trailers for laundry, showers, and bathrooms.
Shawn was extremely welcoming.
Passes by Nov. 18 to stay for the night but the damages caused by the Ian storm are still humongous! the church serves as a help center so we did not stop.
Report Check-InEverything was great, everyone was very helpful! Meet the dad of Shawn, Butch, really nice guy! During the night there is a security guy, but if you explain to him that you got the recommendation from iOverlander and will talk to Shawn or already talked to Shawn, then everything is fine!
