Description

Air plane wing at shore of Laguna Brava. More wreck parts on opposite lakeside.
To the north at more than 5300 altitude, is Crater Corona del Inca. We recommend to go with a guide and with another pickup truck. You need a 4x4 pickup car, with "baja" and "raised".

Really beautiful! Everybody will tell you, you need a guide but if you are lucky you don’t… they do now a checkpoint near jaguel to see if you have a guide with you. We hear they do the check between 9am to 2pm so you can try to pass before or after ;) if you are unlucky you can still have a guide from this point.
The road to go to laguna brava is very long but really beautiful! It’s 2/3 paved roads and 1/3 not paved but doable for anyone.
We suggest you to already drive a little bit in the afternoon and sleep at one point then in the morning to drive to laguna brava otherwise it’s really a long drive.

Laguna Brava, you can get there with or without a guide. This salty altitude lake is 4350 m. The trail to get there is beautiful. There is a refuge next to which there is the skeleton of a hungry Chilean named the Destapado because the stones that cover it are constantly taken away by the wind. You will see pink Flemishes who gather next to small geysers not far from the refuge. In the lake you will see elements of an airplane that made an emergency landing due to overload, no casualties. The lake is shallow at most 1.5 m. The area is swept by strong winds.
