This one is on the ring road around the Tatacoa desert. Having seen all of the other ioverlander places, I settled for this place. On a cliff, so maximum wind for cooling. Almost no traffic, although right next to the road, still very quiet. The nicest place I think is a bit further in the valley of constellations, but, this spot has fast internet! (only area in Tatacoa with Claro reception)
Coming from the west, no problem with 2wd. Coming from the east there's a few muddy little river crossings, may be difficult after the rain.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Nice spot when the wind is blowing. When wind stops, microscopic biting bugs will make there way everywhere, even though tiny screen mesh. So, can be nice, can be not-so-nice. The bugs made us move on....
Report Check-InCool spot for a wild camp in the Tatacoa! If you have a small 4x4 you can even drive over the edge to a place which is more hidden from the road and has better views. We had lots of sand flies so take care! We really loved this spot. Only a view vehicles passed.
Report Check-InVery nice spot to camp, with a great view! A couple of motorcycles passed by, all very friendly. Quiet night, and no sand flies for us!
Report Check-InAwesome place next to the road which is even less busy than at the spots further east. Wear bug spray, we had tons of nasty sand flies or so biting us in the morning. Ok Claro and Tigo reception.
