Description

Right on the beach, a bit noisy. a lot of locals partying. 2WD no problem the road is all rocks, the beach is also rocky but beautiful, cell LTE but really slow. There's also garbage cans and palapas but they need maintenance.
LTE 2 bars T-Mobile. Service is slow but calls and texts work.

Great spot near town. Unpaved road but in decent condition.

Highly recommended! It’s an open space beach front. Kinda rocky works for 2Wd. There is a taco stand on the way in and a cafe. There are no amenities. But the view is well worth it. You can easily get a shower at Huerta don chano for 50 pesos a person. Not very far from this place. It’s the best area to stay in while saving your money. Free! At least 9-10 other campers here in there sprinter vans, RVs, tents, bus etc. everyone seems to mind their own business.

Great free camping on the beach with the Sea of Cortez on one side and the river on the other. Great for parking for a night or two to enjoy the cute little town of Mulege. We rode our bikes into town to explore and stayed three nights in the beach. We paddled up the river and even saw blue cannonball jellyfish in the water. Beautiful sights! Great little restaurants within walking distance from the beach and some vendors even come by to sell vegetables, fish, and more. Big rigs, beware! The streets to Mulege are very narrow and have tight turns. And to get to the beach here, you drive right through town.

Incredibly location probably one of our favorite camping spots in all of Baja so far. Dog friendly beach with rocky access perfect for 2wd vans. Litos Cafe is affordable delicious eats. Some other campers probably saw about 10, locals come to fish, tide pools to the left. amazing camp site

Easy-ish access with my 2WD Sprinter. Very quiet. Loved it.

Free easy camping. This photo is taken from the 'restaurant' at the end of the beach.

Felt safe; some other people camping but not too crowded. Locals coming and going, largely to use the boat ramp to go fishing. Some soft sand — a van got stuck and we helped them get out. Absolutely no issues with Starlink. Bad service with Google Fi, not usable for Zoom calls.

(we use to report on cell service for people trying to work off grid; IG: @pampas.overland)

Totally agree with the descriptions from other visitors in the past few days. A good place to overnight but nicer options for longer stays a ways to the south. OTOH, there is cell service here if you need it and there isn’t any south of here until Loreto.

Historica Mulege is a wonderful town on the Baja peninsula.

Stayed on a Thursday. Did not experience any noisy fishermen in the morning, but there were a few all night barking dogs nearby, and a good handful of locals cruising by with their music going on towards midnight.
The spot itself is not anything to write home about, but it's nice enough, with a restaurant and a taco stand right here, and it's convenient to town. Overall I am thankful that it's here and that it's free.
Would probably stay again for the convenience of the place, but it's Friday so I'll stay elsewhere that's less apt to be a local party spot.

We could not found Punta Pietra, so we drove to the lighthouse and parked under/ bij the palapas ( 2 of the 4 are broken). Nice place with at the ocean, with two other vans and locals who drove along and sometimes stopped for a chat.
We did not go to the restaurant but it seems to be a nice spot.

lovely rocky beach with an amazing assortment of seashells. palapas need a little repair. the sound of the waves is so soothing. we parked next to the palapas in a level spot. Stayed 1 night with 3 other campers. the drive in through mulege was cozy to say the least, lots of overhanging wires and streamers and very narrow streets. Noisy around 5 am when fishermen are going to their boats, they like their music loud. would definitely stay here again.

Great little spot to spend the day, 4x4 is recommended if you want to get right by the water. The road to the lighthouse is good for cars and motorhome’s. Palapas and free camping
