Latest Check-Ins

National Forest Campground. Camp host is here cleaning up for a May 15 opening. He said we could stay free. Kings Creek trail access from campground. Chimney Rock and Keyhole Arch 2 miles up Kings Creek trail are Spectacular! Tropic Reservoir is a nice lake in the pines. Frost free water spigots are threaded throughout campground but turned off in winter. Sign says for filling containers…not for dishwashing or cleaning fish. They are turned off still and flush restrooms are still locked up. There are a couple of clean pit toilets as well that are open at this time. Chip seal parking pads and concrete pads with tables, raised grills, and fire dings at each site. Free in the off season this is a gem away from the crowds. ATVs allowed on the roads in this area so might be noisy and dusty during the day in the summer?

Completely empty campground but no sign stating closure. No fee envelopes as previously mentioned. I’m traveling solo and felt a bit creeped out so moved on but could be a good spot for a braver camper!

Report Check-In

Went after the campground closed and only one-two other campers. Fire pit and table. Regular bathrooms closed however pit toilet available- very clean. Close to Bryce and the reservoir was nice for paddle boarding. Stayed two nights. There were no envelopes for fee and nothing to check in online so assumed it was free.

Great campground. There is plenty of free camping in the NF around this campground, but this is a good place if you have a larger rig or need facilities.

National Parks American Senior lifetime pass is $8.50 and $17.00 without. About 7 miles of washboard road to get there. I wouldn't drive it for an overnight stay, but would for longer stays. Nice campground with a dump station and potable water and restrooms. Season over 9.20.20 bathroom and water shut off till next season. Camping still allowed after season for 16 day max stay.
