Something not right?

Description

we showed up here at 2pm, had the place for us, absolutely mindblowing view on El Fuego eruptions.

$4pp as someone will come pick up money around 6/7pm.

dont worry about being able to do this hike alone, this is just marketing from tour companies.

INSANE STUFF, most impressive thing I ever witnessed after years of traveling.

Latest Check-Ins

Best place to start your hike. Which you can do by yourself, you don’t need a tour company for that!
Especially if you have all the gear (tent etc)
Even if you don’t, speak to the host of this place, he will help you reserve a small hut or tent on the mountain.
It’s a hard hike but absolutely worth it.

The place is expensive (50qtz pp), and you need to pay the same amount for the night when you sleep on the mountain and not in your vehicle.
But toilets are clean and there are hot showers.

Report Check-In

The place is nice, right in front of El Fuego but ... we arrived on a Friday afternoon and found out that all the platforms where you could set up a tent belong to an agency/tour operator. Of course they ask for money to let you camp. On top the municipal police (which has a blue tent next to the ASOAVA platform) goes around between 4pm and 7pm collecting 60Q pp from the people camping. We asked for a cheaper option to the police and they offered us 40Q pp (apparently for camping only on the same day -non sense- the police was also happy to forget giving us a ticket/receipt for the payment). We left our backpacks with the police and went to El Fuego for the sunset. We came back at 8pm and the police was already sleeping ... they woke up, gave us our bags, collected the money and suggested to camp on a platform that didn't have people atm (so no charge from the agency). Also watch out from guides that offer their platform in exchange of money: one offered to us his spot and he would collect also the police money, but he was on his way down .. good luck in telling the police that you already paid!
