Something not right?

Description

Road up from Machachi was a bit rough and took a while. Camped in the parking lot. Fantastic location with amazing views to Cotopaxi (on clear days). Facilities was great and it is a perfect place to relax (no WIFI) and we had three meals included every day. Perfect location for the sunset is the Jacuzzi!! Price: NA

This is not a typical campsite as you might know it. You pay 42 USD per person (!) per night in your own (!) tent. The grassy patch you camp on is not even, it’s not sheltered. You need to jump over a fence to reach the toilets & showers in the main building. Yes, the price above includes hot showers, 3 meals per day and some free hikes (guided by volunteers, not official guides), but we got the impression that the ‚bring your own tent‘-package was the idea of somebody who has never camped before and is only after the money.

Drove up after a long day in Cotopaxi NP and while the facilities do seem nice, they were too pricey for us. Asked for $30 per person to camp in our van (!) and $40pp if we wanted a bed, no WiFi available. We politely declined. Prices included three meals a day, which we heard from a friend met on the road, are quite good. Also, this place was packed with early 20s backpackers if that's your scene.

Nice Finca / Hostal with great view on the Cotopaxi. We came here to do hikes. You have to do a Tour, hiking by yourself is not possible as they to not have maps and the tracks are not sight out. Camping is not really cheap here - as described on there website do they sell packages (incl breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner and different activities). We had to pay 23$ pP incl the food, but for the hike we had to pay extra. Really expensive but also a really nice place (hot tube with view on Cotopaxi). I would recommend to contact them before arrival and negotiate a deal. The road is quite rough but doable w/o 4W drive.
