There are 3 parking areas near sendero Lagunas Altas. The first parking lot you encounter is accessible for all vehicles. The road between the first and second parking lot is steep and filled with loose rocks, but will be fine if the weather is ok and you can maintain some speed (but watch out for upcoming traffic).
The second and third parking areas are very close together. The second one is higher than the third. For camping, you usually will drive down to the third.
However, the road connecting them is very steep and filled with loose rocks. Going down is no problem, but going up the next day might be. Depending on your vehicle, the weather forecast and the condition of the road, it might be better to stay the night at the second parking lot. In any case, check out the road before you drive down to the third parking area.

We tryd on a rainy day with our 2WD Frontwheel Motorhome to reach the Campground West Winds, but the hill was too steep and the ground to bumpy and slippery. Its was dangerous to drive backwards.
We paid before 8000 CLP pP for camping and didnt get the money back. We stayed on the parking lot from the Information Center.
So check before if you can reach the Campground.
Road between all three parking lots is now in reasonably good condition. watch for oncoming traffic as it's basically a one lane road. Camping fee is 8,000pp payable at the visitor center.
