Description

Nestled on a private peninsula beyond the Macadamia orchard, Romelda Campsite is a hidden gem.

The lush lawns, surrounded by indigenous trees and beautifully landscaped gardens, offer a serene atmosphere. The campsite is enveloped by the picturesque lakeshore and breathtaking panoramic views of the lake.

The shared ablution block facilities include solar geyser showers, flushing toilets, and a washing and preparation area. The campsite area has braai facilities and picnic benches along the lakeshore for guests to enjoy the peaceful sights and sounds of the Lake.

Camping - $10/per person per night

Within the campsite are three well-appointed "glamping" tents, the Safari style Meru tents offer breathtaking views of the lake. Glamping - $50/tent per night (2 people) + $10 per extra person per night

We have ample parking space available for 4X4 vehicles, camper vans, and expedition trucks, including boat trailers and other bulky vehicles.

Very beautiful place, campsite with a view to the Lake. Paul, the man who works there is really nice. 10PpPN.

We stayed at the lovely campground direct at the lake (10 US$ pp). Unfortunately, it's not possible to have a swim in the lake since there are hippos and crocodiles in it! Clean place with a good hot shower, friendly stuff and since 1 months there is also wlan by the campground. It is possible to use the restaurant from the loge next to it but it is expensive.

Have now camped at this place on two occasions and both times have been great! grounds and ablutions are clean and well looked after, staff are lovely and the location is great. it's a fantastic place to camp if you want to take the scenic drive around lake Mutirikwi to Great Zimbabwe or if you're coming from Masvingo and want to camp by the dam. Cost is 10$ pppn.

Beautiful place with nice view to the lake and beautiful and helpful people!

Lovely place, very scenic. Staff was very friendly and the couple that runs the place had great hospitality. It was our son's birthday and they surprised us with a birthday cake. Great touch.

I managed to find a somewhat level place just near to the water with a peaceful scenery.

Friendly staff

New campsite area with a better view of the lake and hills behind than the old area. Has a shaded area under the trees but not very level or lots of space for more than one vehicle. We decided to camp on the level-ish area before the ablutions which was perfect in the evening. We moved our chairs to under the trees and on the lawn in the front during the day. The staff were really welcoming and responsive to any of our requests. Paul was particularly helpful. $10pppn which we found was best value for money in the area. Drove to Great Zim on the eastern road around the lake (marked on iOverlander), and was one of the most beautiful drives we have had in all of our travels.

We expected something different...The new camp is approx. 500 Meters away from the lodge (separate entrance). Only one site with BBQ,shade and access to the lake as there are three fixed tents for "Clamping'. The whole place is quite small so we would need to camp in front of the ablution block between little trees (no shade). Clean toilet/Shower. No power available (light in ablution is on solar). WiFi only at lodge. There is no shelter of any sort and as it was mid day and it looked like rain we decided to head closer to Great Zimbabwe. $10 ppn.

We limped in here after towing our friends 80kms at 5pm......Tyler greeted us very warmly even though they were actually closed as they were doing some maintenance and last minute jobs on the new campsite area. Not only was he so friendly and happy for us to stay he was able to put us in touch with the Toyota garage in Masivingo who put a new clutch in to our friends hillux in 24 hours! We really enjoyed 3 days of relaxing on the beautiful lake where u can fish from the pontoon. The gardens r beautiful with huge Avocado trees and lemon and orange trees, there is a banana plantation and macadamia nuts growing too. Beautiful sunsets over the lake, hot showers, great bbq areas and laundry service in a washing machine for 5USD. The new campsite is very, very nearly open and is superb, on its own peninsula on the lake with brand new ablutions. There is hiking in the area and the rhino sanctuary is close, boat trips are also available. 10 USD pppn. Thank you for making us feel at home and all your help, good luck with the renovations and new campsite.

Wow, pleasant surprise... we planned to stay for one day, but ended up staying the weekend.. Bass and Bream fishing is great. Well maintained gardens and facilities. Price of $10pppn is worth the stay...

What an amazing place with the friendliest staff ever. True campsite are very close to each others (lucky us we were the only camper) and no real lake view. However in about one month they will open new bigger campsites right on the lake. The owner is really taking care of his guest. We highly recommend this place. Nice clean ablutions with hot water.

We spent 3 lovely nights at the campsite at Romelda’s! The lodge and campsite is now being managed by the daughter of the owner and the team gave us access to the shared lodge facilities, incl WiFi and the bar. They campsite is lovely and well maintained, power available and big rig friendly. Filtered water and braai wood available. They are also expanding the campsite across from the current position to further expand. We loved the fishing pond and spent time on the lake. Would surely recommend in the area as all is well maintained, secure and friendly staff.

Camping now $25. Very bad econet reception and WiFi not working.

Three camping terraces with well-kept lawns next to each other on the slope. The pitches are sloping despite terracing. Hardly any privacy when all three campsites are occupied. The water from the tap is water from the lake. The access road to the cottages runs alongside the camping area. Inland views and second rate view of the lake's edge. Are the cottages occupied, no access to the lake view and sunset. WiFi at the cottages but not at the campsite. Suitable for BigRig (8x2.4x3.8m). Owner very helpful when present.

Very pleasant setting on grassy sites on the lake. 3 quite flat pitches. Drinking water and firewood provided. Clean hot shower. Godfrey gave us a very warm welcome. $10 pp

We didn't stay as we were told we would not be alowed to go to the deck area - where you actually have a nice lake view - because there were guests in the lodge. The views from the campsite are mostly towards banana fields and the boat park so it wasn't really appealing to spend the day. If you want a modern campsite South African/European style this is a good choice. There are 3 camping spots in lawn terraces right next to each other, 2 toilets, one shower and a place for dishwashing. Firewood is 2 USD per bundle. Filtered water is provided for free. There's no shade a part from the small shelter covering the picnic tables in each spot. No internet connection with Econet. 10 USD ppn.

We had a great two night stay at Romelda. The pitches are right next to the beautiful lake and we had two of the best sunsets we’ve seen on our 4 month trip.
The owners Lisa and David were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the area and helped us plan our route to Harare via Great Zimbabwe.

Beautiful campsite on the shores of Lake Kyle, offering manicured shaded lawns with a view of the Lake. Individual braai areas fitted with electricity points and lighting.

Ablutions with hot water (solar geyser), toilet, shower and washing area.
