HUGE police trap. if your Google maps tells you to turn left from Culiacan into the border queue DONT! turn right and join back of the queue. cops come and try taking you to police station if you turn left and merge. Us and two of our friends were told to turn around and escorted to the back of the queue and wanted us to go to the cash points to draw out more money - we said absolutely not and all three of us just have them a mix of pesos and US that we had on us - they sent us away. DONT SKIP THE QUEUE even if maps tells you to. There's no signage or barriers.

Just had an attempt to get scammed by a “policia”. We are in a truck with overhead camper. We tried to make a U-turn because there are a lot of streets closed which google maps was unaware of. “Policia” said no u-turn and to follow him. We did pull over down the road where I had to use google translate to discuss. He said I didn’t have a seat belt on (which wasn’t true). I keep asking him for a written ticket. He said we needed to follow him to police station to pay ticket then follow him to get in the Sentry line(there is not a sentry line at Tecate border crossing). We kept insisting on a written ticket. He finally said ok this one time go. So glad we have been warned of this at other border crossings on IOverlander!!!!

This is still the accurate entry point to return back to the U.S. All other side streets through the neighborhoods have road blocks.

During the day time, there are a ton of vendors with food, ice cream, snacks, water, souvenirs, and even a guy with a big trash bag to take all your trash, walking up and down the cars.

We did forget to stamp out. It's a hassle: you will need to park your car in the US (at an outrageous rate), go back to migracion (next to banjercito), get stamped out, enter Mexico and use the pedestrian route to enter the US again - in all a hike all around two blocks.

USD 6 charge (cash or credit) per visa holding person for an I-94 of 180 days.
