Small Neighborhood Walmart in a shopping center. It wasn’t listed on IOverlander at all, and because other Walmarts in Oregon have said “no camping”, I was skeptical. However, when I arrived to get groceries, there were several RVs and car campers in the lot. At least three of the campers looked fairly long term. I checked carefully and there were no signs indicating that overnight stays were unwelcome. I spent the night and had no issues. It’s in the same complex as many other restaurants, stores and businesses, including Planet Fitness. I felt safe and it was quiet, with the exception of cars arriving in the morning at the Orange Theory gym across the lot. This is a very small Walmart, just groceries.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Stayed 1nt nearby NW Spruce Ave, no issues.
Called Walmart, spoke to a manager who said "Walmart doesn't own the lot" and he can't "grant permission to park."
After some chit chat, he said there are folks parking on NW Spruce Ave that rarely move. City Ordinance is to move every 72h, but rarely enforced.
Several rundown RVs parked, running generators, etc. Anything goes here, it seems.
There was a motorhome and some other vans behind the Walmart. They said they have to move every 2 days and one guy has been doing it for 3 years. It was a good night's sleep for being in an urban environment.
Report Check-InParked up with at least 3 other vans. The leaf blower guy came round the whole parking lot at 10:30pm but just walked round doing his maintenance in the lot and around the Walmart. No shouting, just doing his maintenance before the store closed at 11:00pm. Seemed harmless enough.
Report Check-InCalled customer service, store manager said it was okay if parked in the very back and must leave within 24 hours. No rvs, he stated vans only.
Report Check-InStayed here for weeks at a time before without any problems. Just stay quiet and you should be good.
Report Check-InWas parked in the back of the lot along the side of the walmart. Maintenance guys rolled through with leaf blowers shouting no camping.
