Description

Mescal, AZ - Dirt lot about 4 miles north of I-10 exit 297 on North Mescal Road (10 miles west of Benson). Flat and level. Large enough for one or two big rigs. We did not stay there but saw it as we drove by. It's not near anything except the road to the movie set where they used to film movies and TV shows such a Bonanza and Little House on the Prairie. (Tours on Fridays and Saturdays) It would be very quiet there. We had good cell service in Mescal.

Kind of a sad little spot right now but works for a night. Hardpacked dirt, pretty rutted. Level enough for our Class C. Picked up a bag of trash. Someone dumped a dead calf nearby. Quiet so far.

All as described. The issue I'm having is, it rained, and I have 2X. The dirt here seems to get rather slick and sticky when it rains...it's hard like concrete when it's dry.....I would not like to get stuck here. I'm going to have to wait until everything dries out fully to try and get out of here. Full 5G T-Mobile.

spaces here and down the road. seems to be a local spot for shooting though.

My husband and I stayed here in our 25’ school bus with no issues. Very flat, pretty quiet although there is frequent traffic down the road. The sunrises and sunsets are really beautiful and peaceful. You could hear the coyotes singing to the sunrise and sunset which was really neat.

You can see the twinkling lights of Benson on the distance and the light pollution of Tucson on the other side of the mountain. We stopped at the Loves in Benson to fill up with water before coming to camp here but they only offered non-potable water - just and FYI.

Very easy to navigate no high clearance or 4x4 needed.

We did hear gunshots in the distance nearly every evening.

There’s a very flat 10 min walk to the entrance to the Mescal Movie Set Site. They only offer tours on weekends and there was no entry on any other day.

During the day it is warm and sunny, no shade so great for solar panels but often windy and the nights are chilly! (40-50 degrees Fahrenheit)
