Description

I'm just dropping a camping pin here because we almost missed this gem because it's listed as a sight seeing pin, which I don't click on when trying to camp. the road in here is very steep in a couple of sections, and a guy at the beginning of the dirt section made sure we had 4x4 before letting us pass. not recommended for big or very heavy rigs. despite the warnings we made it in and out of there in 2wd, as a challenge to myself, but we have a ton of traction and it was dry. I'm not sure how people would make it out of here if the road was any kind of wet. reception asked for 5 dollars each to camp. restaurant was 6 bucks for a generous lunch, but beers were 3 each... this place is awesome and highly recommend making it up here if you can. it's high enough for a comfortable temperature after the sun goes down. clean bathrooms and shower area. lots of shade. dog friendly! some claro cell service, but no wifi or 4G.

Latest Check-Ins

The road is hilly but easy to navigate, the campground has his charm, the pump is there, doggies are ok, trash around at the campsite, caretakers are not so nice, price is 5 pp but the (free) dip in the river at the backyard is awesome!!!

Report Check-In

Camped right near the river, which is cool and great for a dip. Not a good place for Starlink due to the trees around.

Nice temperature during the night. There is a generator running until about 8PM so the night was quiet. The dogs did not bark and early in the morning there was only one rooster in the distance.

Unfortunately, at around 6:30 AM they turned on a loud water pump right near us. Also in the morning lots of ants invaded our rig. We had them for a few days afterwards.

Later they started mowing the grass. :/ So we left...

Good for one night but nothing more.

Report Check-In

Good place to camp, but you need most of the stuff to cook and lights.

Report Check-In

We stayed for two nights and had the camping area for us. We paid 3000 colones/pP per night. The last km is bumpy and the road is steep. Without rain not a real problem. We liked the place and the price is fair for what you get.

Spent a few nights here.
Great hosts, wonderful well kept clean campground. There was a massive pile of garbage but we returned after a couple weeks away (march 26) and that was cleaned up. Till that point the only negative.
1 bar of cell, no power but clean bathrooms, showers but we used the beautiful river.
$5pp a night and they didn’t balk at us walking to the falls every morning.
Better then a tour, although the guides can show you some secret cool stuff if you don’t mind them.
Many friendly dogs, loved it here and highly recommend.

The place is quite and nice, near the river. We stayed just one night and was very peaceful sleep with rivers sound. The only problem is the road to get there.
Clean bathrooms and no wi-fi

Report Check-In

We are staying here for one night. It's a nice and quiet place (we are the only ones this night), (cold) showers, toilet nearby. and some little huts that you can use to hang out or eat.
We did the tour to La Leona waterval. In our case, we paid $30 pp (18.000C) and got a discount for the campsite. The tour and surroundings are really nice, but I expected a bit more information about the environment and animals we saw. They just told us when to swim in the river and hold on to a cord in the water.

Report Check-In

We arrived late at night (after 6). We texted (through WhatsApp) that we would be arriving later in the evening and we’re told this wouldn’t be an issue. We were greeted at dusk by a very friendly couple who took us to our campsite. It says no camping trucks but we made it in with ours. The couple told us all about what was available and are super friendly. Dogs on site (and a cat). Running water, showers and washrooms. It is quite the drive in and definitely requires 4x4.
