Report Check-InBeautiful dispersed campsites with lots of room and amazing views. Walking distance to the water. Great cell phone reception too. Wear pants in the summer, the flies bite hard.
Report Check-InRight on the water. from the posted signs on the main road, turn immediately right onto the sandy road. Follow that road around and you'll see turnoffs with fire rings. pick one or keep going until you get to the water. lots more fire rings. Tip, if you're coming in summer, wear pants. The flies will eat you alive.
Report Check-InSouth side is nice, does require every visitor over 16 to have a Colorado fishing or hunting license to access though. Game wardens and rangers do check often for this.
Report Check-InTake the first dirt road toward the water on west side of the dam, near the bulletin boards. Do not proceed straight as spring protected areas for endangered birds. Drive down the gravel road. Camp sites are indicated with signs. The water levels have gone down so water is further away. Clean, quiet site. We were not disturbed. One other rig camped far away. Feasible for big rigs but you have to back in. On gravel/sand surface with small trees around - we made it with a 27 ft fifth wheel.
