Description

Continuing along Poverty Road beyond the location labeled “BLM”, the road comes out of the trees again on the edge of another canyon. Giving views to the south. Multiple fire rings. Road just a little bumpy to here. Most vehicles could make it. Unless of course it rains. Then get out of there quickly.

Latest Check-Ins

Did not go to very top of hill because there are some beautiful sites on the way up with flat areas and fire rings. Joined by 2 other campers with a-lot of distance between us. Very rutted on the way up in our class c but did not bottom out. We noticed dear legs and fur under a tree with a wire going across. kinda creepy when we noticed a pricy game camera looking directly at us. House across the road. We suspect the homeowners are poaching deer. Also suspect they are intentionally making the ruts to discourage campers on this BLM land.

once I got up the hill, it was deeply rutted and wet areas. I turned around as soon as I could and left. I am in a front wheel drive Promaster but recommend high clearance only unless it's been really dry for a while. I lost a mirror on the way trying to navigate the ruts.

Beauty spot. Peaceful, plenty of firewood to be found if you go for a wander

As MJ22 described 5/23 road to the right (70A) is rough but gets better. Don't know if I'm at the one she described but might be (firering, flat & just nice)

The roads here are not ideal but tonsss of sites around. If you keep going to the end of the road there is a great lookout campsite. We chose this site it would be really fun with a large group of friends.

Drove in from Springdale direction, through park entrance on main park road - 30(ish) minutes on HWY 9 from Springdale. Turn right on Poverty Road .5 mile down Poverty Road, take the first right turn, EXTREMELY rocky for about .5 - .75 of a mile, high clearance needed, no 4WD necessary, but be prepared to shake around. Turns into easier dirt road, drive another .3 - .5 miles and there is a spot to the right. See pics. Large homemade fire pit structure built, trees, private and quiet. Multiple secluded spots along this road and it’s worth the rocky trek. Beautiful star gazing and views.

Report Check-In

No recent rain, but with winter weather and snow on the ground the entire road is a mud pit. Possible in a 4runner, but difficult and could barely get out of the tire ruts to turn into a clearing. Service on Tmobile through AT&T roaming

Report Check-In

Camped in our car here. Numerous spots, some with fire pits and a few cars/rvs setup around us. Generally felt safe
