Violently robbed | Warning

My wife and I rode two motorcycles from San Cristobal to Palenque in a day - absolutely no issues along the entire route. All felt good. We could see signs where there were old blocks and saw a couple of ropes laying across the road, but unmanned. All in all, a good ride (but a billion topes!)

Drove from palenque to San Cristobal. No issues. Nice drive. Seemed very safe.

Apart from the ridiculous number of topes, no issues driving towards Ocosingo.

The area looks very poor. Saw no police around here. No phone service. Only one army pick-up truck driving south from Ocosingo.

We did all the road 199 today and yesterday without any issue. Beautiful landscapes.

By a group of 20 men and 2 women. No cellphone reception so no help.
