THIS SITE IS CLOSED NOW!!

Went to stay overnight here and the rules have changed. Security Staff told us there’s no overnight camping anymore and that we’ll be ticketed $160.00 and forced to leave or be towed. They also said if we refuse to leave the RCMP will attend and that we can be fined as well. It’s getting late so it looks like we’ll be heading to Walmart parking lot.

This is a great park. Stayed in the far parking lot, quiet and dark, only a few other vehicles overnight. It was quiet after the kids partying on a Friday night left lol, they were gone by 2330. Felt safe and would stay again

Horrible experience at Westwood Lake Park in Nanaimo. I stayed with friends that are from the Mainland and brought their RV over for a few days. They read on here that this was a great place to stay for free even though the gates are locked at 11pm amd don’t open until 7am so you are locked in and can’t leave. We were yelled at by security and told it is illegal to camp overnight in the Park and told we would be ticketed. We were woken up several times in the night people partying and rummaging through our belongings. They appeared to be homeless which is apparently a huge issue in the Nanaimo. We couldn’t leave and we’re afraid to even leave the RV for a washroom break.
We woke up to find their RV had deep scratches one of the doors by a key or knife and our air mattresses were stolen.
It’s a great place to spend the day swimming and hiking and was totally safe during the daylight hours but I highly recommend leaving before the gates are locked and you’re held hostage for the night!!
If you’re thinking this is a good place to enjoy a peaceful night think again!!!

Waw very nice lake, warm! Lots of people during the day but quiet at night.
Lots of places. We were two campers.

Stayed here for 1 night, wasn’t bothered. Very quiet, only a few people around.

Very nice place but we had someone come to our van after 11 last night and he used his flashlight to see if there was someone in the van. We didn’t move or say a word and he left. He was someone working for the city and law enforcement… once he was gone we slept very well.

Clean and quiet. No signs stating over night not allowed. I don't see washrooms or security either.

Nice place on the lake for a night. Bathrooms, water tap next to the paved parking lot and outside shower (though no water was hooked up to the shower today)

Security came by at 1130pm to check the cars and take down license plate. Shined his flashlight on the car for a while and moved on to the next one

The parking of Westwood Lake park. Beautiful and very quiet place to stay at night but become very busy over day. There is a gate and the park close after 11pm and reopen at 7am but you are allowed to stay in, the guard will just take your plate number and you'll have the whole place for the night. There's a gravel parking further in for those who wants to be more remote from the road and the main area. Beautiful view on the lake.
