Latest Check-Ins

after coronavirus they close the camping definitly and they didn't give us permision to stay with the tent

Report Check-In

Gate locked at 7 PM, so we had to continue our way.
Paved road coming from the south becomes specially bad and dangerous for a quite long part, with unexpected / not signalled "baches" (really holes).

Report Check-In

$250 ppp to camp, with hot water in the shower. Owners aren’t willing to negotiate on price. Place is pretty but they are all business.

Report Check-In

Coordinates are correct now. Its a small gate you just open n drive in. Very basic place for what it costs 130pp. Shower warm water but poor flow. Toilets no seats and no paper. Kitchen was closed. Couldn't find electricity and owner recommended to take route 9 km down south to caves- it was raining and most of camp was soggy so believe there road may be the same. All in all not impressed better options around.

Report Check-In

We were the 28th February and the gate was locked 😣. It's supossed they open January and February.

Found it!!! Driving from north to south it 4km BEFORE the GSP coordinates.

Report Check-In

It is not an informal campsite. It is established.
Really nice owners of an estancia offer to camp on there ground. There is shelter from the wind, a very nice common area with a BBQ and a sink to clean the dishes as well as tables.
Toilets and showers are basic but clean.
You can walk to the caves. I think it is preferable to stay here than in Perito Moreno or Gobernador.
Price: 100 pp + 50 for the common area. Worth it. Recommend.

Report Check-In

Great hot showers, sheltered. Camp kitchen. 60 paesos each for our camper van. As previous commentators have said gate is 4km down the road from listed GPS position. GPS position of gate on ruta 40 is S47.11844 W 070.85992, it is then about 1km drive in.

Report Check-In

It is open! A basic estancia along a river with many cows and very very nice owners. Only open in January and February, as Lonely Planet also states. Gate at RN40 is closed, but you can just open it and enter. The gate is 4km further north along the RN40 of the GPS location in iOverlander. Really friendly welcome, very clean facilities, nice communal kitchen, hot showers, and a few tables and firepits at the campsites. A lot of trees. BBQ spots in the kitchen. Access to the Cueva via a 30min (12km) drive over the estancia terrain (former routa 40) followed by a 2-hour walk (6km) to the Cueva. Really scenic through the valley!! Other option is driving about 20km's further south on RN40 and then 28km's unpaved to the cuevas. We paid 80 per person per night, and really enjoyed our stay at the estancia. You could also only use their access route to the cueva for 40 pesos per person. Access is free if you stay for a night. Great stop, waaaaay better then Perito Moreno and Bajo Caracoles! Accessible by any vehicle.

Report Check-In

Gate locked up. Gps location is off by 2.5 miles.

Report Check-In

A traditional estancia near Cueva de los Manos. Hector and Cenisia the owners are super sweet. A working ranch. Stay in their grassy camp or the 150 year old stone casita with comfy beds and nice bath. Super clean. We paid $38 USd for the whole house to ourselves. Camping not sure price. On the river. Super scenic and peaceful. Worth several days an you can hike to Cueva from there.
