Description

Corrupt police, asked for SOAT which we obviously did not have because it is not possible to get it at the border. Even on our TIP, aduana wrote: SOAT in puno. Police did not care, asked for 40 soles but we did not have any cash. Then they asked for 150 US dollars instead. A joke! We ended up paying 20 dollars, they had our passports and would not give them back without money. Be well prepared, it was an unpleasant first experience in Peru…

We were stopped here today (about 1-2kms towards Bolivia past this waypoint)
Police checked all our documents, seemed slightly disappointed they were all valid, then let us on our way.

Report Check-In

We were stopped heading south on our way to the border and they were definitely fishing for issues… lucky for us all our papers were in order, they even asked for vaccination cards then tried to tell me I should have a 4th dose!!! I knew the rules so called BS and he eventually let us off.
