United States
Important: For all overnight camping in the Gorge, you are required to purchase an overnight backcountry pass from the visitor center. It was only $5 for one night or $7 for three.
There are a few restrictions, but there are a ton of places to stay overnight in the park. We chose to stay at Chimney Rock and just stayed in the vehicle, but you could set up tents if you wish (just make sure you read the restrictions first). At this location, there are bathrooms and nice hikes from here. Great stargazing as well, but you need to hike a little to get out of the trees.
There is also good wifi here, unlike most other places in the park. Both AT&T and Verizon.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
If you have an Interagency America the Beautiful Pass, you can get 50% off the overnight camping permit at the Forest Service Office ONLY, since they are the only ones capable of checking the validity of your pass.
The gas stations and visitor center selling the permit are not able to offer the discount.
