Kenya
We took the other route first from Maralal to Baragoi via the C77 (towns Poro and Suyani)
This road is horrible for about 70 KM’s, we also felt a little unsafe (police was debating if we needed an escort). Also a lot of angry farmers with AK’s and screaming children who throw rocks when you don’t give them sweets.
This road however is beautiful!
You will need a 4x4 (near Maralal it’s very steep) and you can only do this in dry season due to a few river crossings.
But the road is smooth (sand, gravel and tar) with beautiful scenery. People are friendly but also scarce.
I would recommend this route.
Starting (or the other way) from Maralal to Barsaloi and then to Baragoi. Might even be a bit faster!
Don’t forget to ask what the current bandit situation is though! This area is still a bit hectic.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The road from Barsaloi through Suyan to Baragoi Is not considered to be safe at today. before continuing your trip through this road check in with the police. High instability area and 25km c.ca of No Mans Land. Beautiful scenery, terrible road
Report Check-InAgree that this is a nice option with great views. If you're using T4A GPS navigation you will find at one point that the actual road deviates quite a lot from the GPS. Fear not, it will work out just fine.
