Colombia
This spot is the furthest you can drive your vehicle to get to Las Gachas.
30min walk from here to the river. follow stone path until river.
Las Gachas is a beautiful river with numerous small circular pools. Beautiful site. A low water stream passes over the beautiful red rock and accumulates in the various pools that are naturally dug out from the rock. The water was above my head in many of these pools but you can walk along the river.
To get here drive from the town of Oiba and head towards Guadalupe. There is a sign for Las Gachas next to the gas station.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The pedestrian path from Guadalupe is now a pretty paved path. You can park about 500m before this point along the way. In January there was not a lot of water in the river but the more you walk upstream the more clear and fresh water. This site is popular, you will certainly not be alone. We did about 6km round trip. Access is free from Guadalupe.
Report Check-InWe parked at the public parking across the Terpel gas station. From there it's a 45 minute walk, but you could drive a little further like others have done although there's now a sign that says not to 😅
Report Check-InStill as described. We parked here, but the official entrance is probably where the Camping spot in iOverlander is. Nice peaceful 30 min walk (scenery looks like Switzerland) to very refreshing beautiful round natural swimming holes. Free.
Report Check-InBeautiful place to chill. Best to walk throught with socks on (slippery) and visit in the morning to avoid the crowds.
Report Check-Inwe parked 500m before this spot as they are working to mantain this dirtroad. at the indicated spot is a parqueadero (5.000cop). las gachas had more water than salitre or la gloria, but according to lokals much less than in february. wear socks there so it is less slippery.
Report Check-InThis place is amazing to cool off in the afternoon heat. We would recommend going during the week because we heard it gets pretty busy over the weekends. There is another entrance listed on ioverlander and it might be less of a walk. This entrance works and takes you between some ranches. Very beautiful. Highly recommend and it's free.
