Absolutely love incredible drive thousands of meters above Apurimac canyon. Easily one of the best bang for your buck detours out there! Leave the 3S and head down to the charming town of Cachora on perfect pavement then traverse the hillside above the canyon on the very easy dirt road AP-116.

Note: While the road is excellent shape, it is single track with some absolutely mind-bending drop-offs. If that makes you uncomfortable then I’d advise skipping this. Also, do not attempt in raining season. This is a landslide paradise.

The road offers wonderful views but as said before, it a landslides paradise and almost impossible to turn back if you can't continue. The road was in perfect condition between Cachora and Anallanca. After, it becomes more narrow and the road seems unstable. Our Dodge Ram (2.1m large) was too large on 5 meters and we had to go touch our left fender.
