Report Check-In

Stayed one night and found it to be exactly as described. Aside from a few day users had the campground to myself. Appropriately named Sunset Lake awesome Sunset!

Report Check-In

Open in the off-season, probably fine until the snow gets too deep. What a beautiful, quiet spot. Few other campers around, unusual for this time of year.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot, easily accessible by van. We arrived on a Thursday around 5pm and easily found a spot beside this lovely lake. It’s free to stay here and there are picnic tables and fire rings. The outhouses/pit toilets aren’t great but the view is amazing and peaceful. We saw otters, loons and eagles within an hour of setting up… also heard there was a bear around. What a lovely place!

Report Check-In

Great little site. Clean, not to busy, great fishing in the lake for pan fry rainbows. Awesome sunsets.

Report Check-In

Nice area on the lake. We arrived late on Saturday and it was crowded but we found a place to park. Lots of families with kids and dogs so hopefully we will have a good nights rest.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place and easy to get to. Google maps took us right here. Arrived around 5pm and there was only one other RV here. The cold drizzly weather may have contributed. No bugs at all.

Report Check-In

Nice place at the lake 5,5 km from hwy 16. You will hear the noise of traffic from the road and the train. At present not much mosquitoes. Cyclists: on the way to the lake is after 500 m a steep grade of 1km. After the grade the way is unpaved till the end.

Nice place 5,5km from hwy 16. You will hear traffic and train.

This little gem is located approximately 4 km south of highway 16 and is enjoyed by locals for camping, boating, kayaking, fishing and beach recreation. Sunset Lake forestry campsite is a free BC ministry of forests recreational campsite that is minimally maintained ie: no real amenities other than pit toilets with toilet paper, mowed grass a couple picnic tables and fire rings. Absolutely beautiful to wake up to sunrises with loons calling and eagles soaring. Please take your garbage out with you- as a local, this is extremely important so that wildlife stays wild and please be fire smart- we currently have 5 wildfires in the direct vicinity. Beware that the lake does tend to have "duck itch" in late summer and that the campsite can get very busy on weekends and during hunting season (sept-nov). The boat launch is in disrepair but is still usable-be careful. In addition, please slow down enroute to the lake. Children are often on the road.

Like all other comments...Aweso.e.place to stay! Only one thing I would add is the exit off 16 is had to find if you're not familiar with the arwa6! Look for.the Topley Fire Department on the opposite side of the road from Sunset Lk Rd!! Enjoy!!

Report Check-In

What a beautiful campsite! We were fortunate and got the last spot because we stopped at 2:30. It seems like a “locals” spot. Most of the other campers are Rv’s or trailers and mostly fishermen. Turn off of 16 onto Sunset Lake Rd. There is a very small partially hidden brown sign on the right side of the road that says Sunset Lake 4km. After 4km, turn right on to Rondeau Rd and you’ll drive right into the campground. 1 pit toilet, picnic tables, fire rings (although a sign at the entrance said there is a fire ban on at this time). No trash or water (other than from the lake.) Best of all, it’s FREE!

Report Check-In

Nice big areas to camp. Our 30' skoolie doesn't do well on bumpy roads though and I regretted coming here because of the road. Otherwise it's nice and free.

Report Check-In

the campsite is very clean and well maintained. Due to the forest fires, open fire is currently prohibited and will be punished with high penalties. this uses the fire rings as garbage containers.

little hint
At Fräser, Francois, Laurie, Hallett, Twentysix Mile, Borel, Anzus, Traut, Knapp, Binta, Uncha, Ormand, Oona, Angly, Peta, Casey, Richmond, Co-op and Taltapin Lake

Report Check-In

This is a really lovely spot, and unfortunately a lot of trash. The sites are nice, the lake is beautiful. It’s quiet. It’s really a great find, BUT please- pick up toilet paper, pick up some extra trash that’s not yours.

Report Check-In

Large Rec Site. Some wide open areas and some more private,2 pit toilets 1 could be wheelchair accessible/change room ,the dock is not very afloat and a ways from shore now, decent boat launch, also has a large grassy day use area/beach. Saskatoon berries everywhere! Faint hum of industrial and also roosters in the distance waking up with the sun. Bring your own wood, not much to scavenge here. Hunters fill up in the fall Sadly the Fire pits are very full of ash,”user maintained” is a tough concept for some people ,most have garbage, tin and glass in them ;(
Cheers

Good spot, the access road has been maintained

Report Check-In

Absolutely beautiful! A couple of other campers pulled in after we arrived, dropped their trailers to stake out places for the upcoming holiday weekend. Sort or wrecked our view, but we still had the place to ourselves.
Loons called most of the night and morning. Mosquitos were thick at times, but seemed to dissipate later. Probably worse from now on until fall. We cleaned up a lot of trash, so please pack it out, and don't "burn" in the campfire, animals will still dig it up and drag it around.

Report Check-In

Road coming in has a lot of potholes. A handful of campers here but no one around, little odd. Crazy crazy mosquitoes. Nice looking area though. And free

Report Check-In

very nice, lots of space with lake view, good for big rigs, clean, quite

Report Check-In

A really nice Recreation Site. The gravel road is in good conditions, therefore it took us only a few minutes from the HWY 16. We were there together with four other cars, but there is a lot of space. Perfect evening with a beautiful sunset.

Report Check-In

quiet, free campground a little off the road, right on the lake

Report Check-In

Great place to sleep! different spots with picnic table and fire pit. Good view of the lake. Really quiet we were the only one!

Report Check-In

Great spot. Bit full on the long weekend but mostly quiet and peaceful. Lake is too small for power boats but one person was on lake with motor. But he parked it early enough so we had a quiet evening.
