Honduras
Very quiet place with big bedrooms large parking lot.
Very nice pool.
They don't allow to sleep in your RV.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
I was looking for a room before I crossed border into Nicaragua. Checked several options. Staff was most friendly here. Oily plug in my fridge for the night. Noisy on the pool on weekends.
Report Check-InGreat place to rest, near from frontier with Nicaragua, 40usd pp, secure parking
Report Check-InStayed just one night. It's decent, wifi is good and room is clean. Cool shower. Breakfast is the classic eggs and beans. When we asked about pets they said they are NOT allowed inside, so it seems it's not pet friendly anymore?
Report Check-Indecided to treat ourselves and get a room (air-con! it's hot here!). $40/night: use of pool, includes breakfast in the morning and they allowed our dog to join us. very nice staff and the pool is nice as well. the food in the restaurant is pretty good too. originally planned to sleep, in our van, at Casa Camino, but for $20 more the a/c, breakfast and pool (and dog friendly) made it worth it to us. no height restrictions, and room to park and guarded at night.
Report Check-InI talked to Mirian, the manager, and she told me that what happened was that they used to charge a fee that didn’t really include heavy use of electricity and people were “stealing” electricity for air-con etc. Anyway, that is their explanation. She says that she is happy to allow people to stay in the vehicles as long as arranged previously with her, which makes it a bit complicated for most people because it makes the plans too rigid.
Anyway, we liked the restaurant and the pool, it would be nice if it became an option again so if somebody has the patience and time to try it out it might open the doors for others.
We can confirm the previous post : they don't allow you to stay and sleep in your car.
We didn't stay, and went to Guaquimele hotel instead, where it's still possible.
Update: As they have a new owner, they don't allow camping anymore. Parking is still possible, but you have to take a room (about 37$).
Report Check-InThe most unfriendly staff since we are in central america !!! They just say "No" without any explanation..
Report Check-InWe were turned down here for no apparent reason. Maybe something happened recently and they are no longer wanting overlanders? Reception said they were full and had no lot parking (there was plenty). I gave him a weird look and he said by 9pm the lot would be full, but he just didn't want us parked - there it was obvious. Driving by early in the morning the lot and hotel was still maybe at 25% capacity. So we had to back track to find a place for the night.
Report Check-InNice secure little hotel with a friendly guard. We parked our rv (along with some other overlanders) for the night. The pool and wifi were great. We plugged in outside the rooms and filled up water from their hose. A great stop between border crossings. Cost us about 9$.
Report Check-InGreat spot for an overnight before or after crossing the border. Good sized town, feels safe.
The hotel is nice and clean. Staff are friendly. We stayed in the parking lot in our truck camper for $9us. They let us use the toilets and showers in the pool area, as well as the pool itself.
Gated lot, well cared for. The ubiquitous friendly, shotgun-toting, night guard.
Report Check-InFastest internet in C-America. 12mb/down and 6mb/up. 200L for car with 2 people. Extra 100 for using the swimming pool. There is electric sockets everywhere if you need power.
Report Check-InNicest place we have stayed, also most expensive. We choose to not do the breakfast and save the 200 L. Good thing too, because when we left early in the morning for the border the restaurant was not open even to buy a cup of coffee. Our dog was allowed in the room, and we also plugged our fridge in overnight to an outside plug. No food options around. We drove to the closest one El Burrito. it was not good, small portions, $$. I'd recommend grabbing a pizza from the fast food district you go through on your way here.
Report Check-InVery nice hotel. The rooms are a bit pricey but they are huge and clean. Internet is super fast. There aren't many restaurants nearby, we went to a burrito restaurant just 300m down the road, very decent. Initially we were told the room was 950L including breakfast, but after a couple of price drops we got 700L without breakfast, not bad in comparison to other hotels we checked in town.
Report Check-InThey let us stay for 200L (3 ppl sleeping in the car). We could use toilets+showers+wifi and asked the guard for electricity (with our own extension). Swimming pool was 100L extra per person (optional). Easy to find. Fairly quiet.
Report Check-InCamped in the parking lot of the hotel the first night for free. Very helpful staff. Clean rooms, AC (you'll be thankful for here). Nice, well kept pool. Stay a second night in a room for 600L upon our return from a backpacking trip to Amapala. Choluteca is a good safe place to stay if you're visiting El Golfo de Fonseca or to plan your border crossing into Nicaragua. You can find almost anything you may need in the city.
