Description

Warning : it’s an elephant hunting area between 1st April and end of June. (see check-in)

Nice and quiet wild camp close to a pool where animals come. We have just seen some elephants in the evening. Under a camelthorn tree and well hidden from the road by a small mopanes woodland. Zero traffic on the road in night.
Caution, can be muddy in the rain season.

Very quiet place. Easy to go early at the Ghoha gate. No cars between 4pm until 6 am. Éléphants and hyenas during the evening. Nothing else during the night. Top

We arrive at 1pm at this place, at 5pm a car passed thought and saw us. It was a car with elephants hunters🤢 and two rangers. They told us to move, because their clients didn’t want people around because we were scaring elephants and they cannot hunt them… we try to discuss but it was not negotiable ! It seems that Botswana is now taking more care of rich hunters than game drive tourists. We asked and the hunting period if from 1st of April till end of June so during these months you might not be able to wild camp around. I don’t think they hunt everyday so maybe you will be more lucky than us.

Superrrr

coordinates are close to 2 waterholes just close to the road. We use a track right when you arrive from Kasane) just 100m before this point. there are a waterhole, big tree for shade and you are completely hide from the main road.
Just 3 vehicles between 17p.m and 7a.m, completely quiet just nature, footprint but no animals around.
good option just before cross ghoha gate.
thx for sharing

Report Check-In

We stayed few meters before the spot. Nobody during the night just heard some hippos and elephants. Perfect for just 1 night on the road to Ngoma Gate.

Report Check-In

not a camelthorn but a huge mopane, just to be accurate.
