Something not right?

Description

Many camping spots on south side of the lake. Most with fire rings. Road coming in has a lot of washboards. we came in fine in our 24ft RV, just go slow. Quite a bit of trash around. 2 bars Straight Talk, enough to use as a hotspot to watch movies. Pit toilet was pretty dirty with trash on the ground. Really pretty area, too bad people have to trash it.
Hunting or fishing license required for entry.

it's about 5 miles south of highway 160. the first 3-4 miles are paved. there's a sign for the reservoir, from there it's a good dirt road for the last mile or 2. The road was muddy in spots in the afternoon, but frozen in the am when we left. lots of spots and flatter on the south side. Great views, not many people in March.

Rave reviews? 🤷 Firstly I’d like to mention since no one else has, this is camping only for those who have a license to kill things. Hunting or fishing.
I don’t think I’ve ever visited a place with more trash so well distributed all over. I mean sure there’s bigger piles near the fire rings where the broken glass seems to be popular, but really? Everywhere? Must be those environment loving sports men?
I think there was a photo of a bag of trash on the floor in the pit toilet. Well like attracts like, today there were three bags full. Some spewing their guts.
As for camp spots? Anywhere near any tree will require dramatic leveling. Out in the dry lake bed among the chest high bushes—trash traps, more level locations can be had.
Had I known in advance a license to kill was required, I would not have come here. But given the amount of tender loving care the place receives—yes there was no toilet paper at the toilet, I don’t expect anyone shows their face to enforce the rules. 14 day camp limit.
Oh did I mention the lake was really dry, maybe quarter of the size you’ll see on google maps.
Sign says no trash cans provided cause of lack of funds, but I don’t see a crew of ten working for a week to clean it all up as a brilliant financial decision. Clearly government knows best. 🙄

Beautiful spot 2 bars verizon. Clean. Didn’t find the pit toilet. Large enough for any rig.

As described. No one here on a Monday night in October.

Great spot. I first went to the north side but it was a bit busy so checked out the other side. Glad I did, there’s a great view of the mountain from here and a lot of flat level spots. Got 2 bars of LTE here. There’s a lot of trash around which is disappointing. Probably a big party spot on weekends but empty on a Wednesday.

Here on a Saturday night after driving up from Angel Fire; only 5-6 groups around the whole lake. I had no issue finding a water side spot. There’s tons of sand to park on and even more spots up in the vegetation. Bugs were around until dusk, not mosquitos though. I have 2bar 4g LTE w Verizon- enough for social media and to stream the radio version of the Razorbacks FB game! Overall- 5/5 for my needs!
