With an Aleman sticker we were stopped.
Not so friendly but well ok, they asked about weapons, drugs, pesos and dollars.
They had just a closer look at the cabin, but not in the rig. Showing him passport and TIP copies and after a short while they wished us a nice trip.
This is illegal checkpoint. They are not authorized to stop anybody. Do not obey their signals and keep driving. First time towed RV in Mexico we stopped at similar checkpoint. They searched our trailer for about one hour and stole $1700USD. We clarified with police (multiple departments) - never stop at such fake checkpoints.
Report Check-InChecking some vehicles going northbound today. Were busy looking in big trucks so we just drove through.
Report Check-InNo checkpoint here today! It was just the Pemex gas station. There was nothing on both sides.
Report Check-InAt 7:45 they were just getting set up for the day and we were not stopped.
Report Check-In“Criminal investigations” unit check point in front of the Pemex gas station. Pulled us over for further inspection in our camper van. Asked where we were coming from and going to and where we are from. Searched around the cabinets and under the bed a bit for drugs, weapons, and large sums of cash. Then sent us on our way. Very nice, cheerful, and professional.
Report Check-InRoadside checkpoint at Pemex southbound lanes. Checked our car permit, asked to look at our driver’s license, looked at the VIN. They were polite and spoke English well. This felt legitimate. Allowed us to pass after they checked everything out. Would’ve been a stress free experience had we not had a stressful experience the previous day further north.
