Beautiful spot. Stayed one Saturday night and multiple spots still available. Rustic stone fire pits. Saw some sites with tables too. River at the end of the road. We had no problems with a 25 ft RV.

It is a free campground. we stay on place 15 near a very little river. It is a calm spot.

Seemed like a nice legal area somewhat close to Redwoods National Park. It was nice but not an easy place to stay if visiting the NP. Google had me take Bald Hills Rd which is a long windy often gravel road over the ridge and back down the south side. About a 90 min drive once you leave the 101 with a good elevation climb so make sure you have enough gas

I was also worried Google might drop me in the incorrect place in the middle of nowhere without reception which it occasionally does so I kept checking this app to make sure I was heading in the general direction

The place is nice, level, big, and wide open. I saw a van parked towards the entrance. Several others came in but left after a few minutes so I was concerned as to why. But stayed and had no problems. It is about 15f degrees warmer than the coastal side of the mountains

As mentioned. No T-Mobile reception

Stayed on memorial day weekend, there were maybe 7 other people camping out here. We stayed at site 15, which was the most secluded one. It was a struggle getting down to the creek from that site, it was overgrown with blackberry bushes. Hot during the day. No services. Free.

Beautiful spot, a river and a very clean, clear creek. Decommissioned campground, 14 day limit posted. Some areas with picnic tables. Site down by the river, no table, but large, lots of

sunshine, no trash except for 1 shattered bottle. Sites near river unmarked/numbered. Sites marked 12 & 13 are next to creek, good for swimming.

Excellent free camping. No services and a few neighbors.

Aiken's Creek Recreation Area

What a great spot for free boondocking. Great views, clean cold creek to soak in. Double waterfall, swimming hole near creek outlet. About a dozen spots with tables and fire pits. Plenty of other places that are bare closer to the river. Only saw two other people stay here the 10 days I stayed. A few drive throughs everyday though. Talked to a couple of folks that have been coming to the area for years. They said the campground used to be one of the best in the area pre 1996. Old campground is shut down because they found native artifacts after a flood in the river. Used to have running water and flushing toilets. Spot 13 is the best if you want a table and fire pit. Plenty of shade, next to the creek for cool breezes. And off to the side and more private. Hike/climb a bit up the creek from there, make your way around the giant boulder to get to the water fall and chest high pool. Go down to the river and walk along the rock to the right. Follow the brush line and look for a small clearing with sandy ground to find the large swimming hole in the creek. Very beautiful spots to escape the heat. Please use the bathroom at the campground across the street. It's hard to dig here as the ground is rocky everywhere. I picked up a ton of trash and poop paper. Trash can also be taken to the campground across the street.

Very cool spot right on the river. Keep going through the abandoned campground to the river. Great place to swim on Aikens Creek that feeds the river south of the camp spot.

Report Check-In

Quiet, lots of spots all spread out, 14 day limit. No cell service anywhere around here.
