Description

So sad to see howCovid has destroyed businesses!! The campsite is now very run down (and the lodge has seen better days), they have no water at the campsite but offered to open a chalet for use (but the chalets are far from the campsite so would have to camp where the chalets are if you need water).
If you’re self-sufficient, the one campsite has a nice view of the lake and is a short walk to the water's edge should you wish to fish. The manager was very friendly and said we could camp there for $5ppn as there’s no water and he “didn’t want to rob us”

Latest Check-Ins

Few nice sites with views to the lake. Ablutions are very run down and it was hard to find anyone of the staff. They did clean a bit and fired the donkey but this place is not worth the $10/pppn in its current condition. The place has potential, but would need a lot of work. Water is pumped from the Lake. Spent only one night. Heard lions roar at night and hippos grazing. The drive there via the dirt road had nice views, but the tracks were a bit rocky, so slow driving from Maabwe’s direction.

Campsite is open again. The ablutions work, there is water and they can put on the donkey for you. Sites are spacious and some (4) have direct view on the lake. The guys are really nice and helpfull. There is still more work to be done (tidiness, waterpressure, signs), but maybe that will improve with when more tourist come. Lodge itself is really run down, though they have a room available if in need. All in all a good place for stop over when coming from Matusadona or Chizarira (8 hour drive) and heading to Kariba along the lake. You can get in contact with Pat Townsend by the number +263 77 226 4159. Its best to let them know your coming so they can make things ready. We paid 10pppn.
