Description

WOW! I’m sure your tiny home on wheels is cool, and so is this one, but there’s one huge difference… yours isn’t an airplane. Yeah, you read that right. Come visit Bruce and his airplane home! He is SO inviting, and told me to post this and let you all know you’re welcome to visit and stay here for free, IF YOU READ THE WEBSITE FIRST FOR HIS VISITOR REQUIREMENTS. You must visit AirplaneHome.com and read through it first, and be respectful of his wishes and home. Some notes:

-Steep and narrow-ish driveway but anything smaller than 20ft should have no issue getting up here. You CANNOT park on the road, you must come up the driveway- walk it first if need be. He said biggest rig was a 30 something ft skoolie, but they did have a couple dings from the trees as they tried to maneuver through his property to park somewhere. I’d recommend keeping it under 20ft. My 2WD very low clearance rig made it just fine.
-You may visit during the day or also park overnight on his property, as well as use his hookups and his plane lavatory/bathroom as needed. Permission not required. (I still emailed him to let him know) I had between 2-3 bars 5GE with AT&T.
-You can fly your drone (just not above the tree line in respect to his neighbors) and take any photos/videos you want. You can also climb on the right wing, the top/fuselage, and check out the inside. Very strict on keeping feet clean and no shoes inside or on the stairs.
-He loves to share about his process and philosophies, and is always open to talking. If you speak Japanese he will absolutely love you.
-Most of the ground is not flat, but I recommend keeping your stay to 1 or 2 nights, and not overextending our welcome here.
-Dogs are fine and welcome to be off leash AND explore on the wing of the plane if you trust your pup to be safe. There are walnut trees out here, which are highly toxic to dogs via chewing sticks or the nuts, so be diligent. He hasn’t had any issues but I’m paranoid about that stuff. The majority of trees are not walnut but still, just a note

*The inside of the plane is not built out, but it is gutted with a partial build and amazing nonetheless. He LOVES dogs, and will gladly play with your pup and talk your ear off if you’re up for conversation.

Latest Check-Ins

There’s now a trailer park by the wing of the plane. Seems like someone has permanently made this place their home as well. Heard some yelling and a dog barking while taking photos. Didn’t stay the night it seemed a little too sketchy. Would’ve been cool though

Report Check-In

Went there this morning and looks like there’s someone else living on the property with a trailer. Last time I talked to the owner he said he’s ok with people staying as long as they like.

Seems like they’re abusing how nice the owner is.

All the descriptions don't do it justice. Super cool place, Bruce really is a gem, so happy and friendly. And very peaceful, almost no road noise, and no lights, except a couple red ones on the plane haha.

I came here in the pouring rain, it's been raining for days, and I wouldn't take something without 4wd up the driveway. You could maybe do it, but it would be dicey. Also definitely no trailers, except a super short one. My 4wd Taco had no issues, but it is slick, and quite muddy up top. Worth it though, even if you park on the road and walk up to check it out. 5 stars for sure

I drive a 2WD coachmen CrossFit van which is on a Ford e350hd chassis… the onlyyyy reason why I’m mentioning this is because the driveway is WAY TOO STEEP for anything over 20 ft. I am 21 feet and immediately got stuck and had to back out. I had to park on the little curb at the bottom. I accidentally rang the bell next door and met the land manager named Alonso… also a super nice dude.

Report Check-In

The reports here are from people who had great experiences, but unfortunately I wasn't as lucky. We arrived late in the day, but it wasn't night yet, the place had a bit of a haunted feel when we arrived, and no one came to help us even though we called. We were confused about where to camp, but after reading a lot on the site and the comments here we decided to line up on the nose of the plane, like another guy here in the comments. We are a family of 4 traveling with a tent on the roof, it was spring brake and my kids were excited to see the plane. We went to sleep and when it was 2am I woke up with the noise of a person hanging around our car, I also noticed that this person had a flashlight and was looking at what was inside the car. The person even moved the cover of our tent that hangs across the windows. I was VERY, VERY scared! I made noise with the zipper of my sleeping bag and the person left. I don't know who the person was, but since there was no one else there, I assumed he owned the place. But why at 2 am? When morning came, we left. Anyway.. it was not a nice experience but a very strange and scary experience. Good luck.

Bruce is a gem, definitely a unique spot. We brought him some fresh olive walnut sourdough and we’re now friends for life. We arrived in the dark, was hard to get situated. I would arrive in daylight if possible.

What an incredible place to visit. Bruce is a gracious and giving host. Beautiful view of the plane out my sliding door. water, dump, shower, toilet, and electricity available for free. offer to take a bag of trash away for him when you leave.

Incredible place. Bruce is so accommodating and welcoming. We went in our grand caravan for one night, I emailed him in the morning to let him know we were planning on coming after reading the visitor info on his website. We arrived at around 5.30pm and Bruce was outside, he hadn't received the email as his Internet is patchy but he was so happy for us to stay. He gave us an amazing tour of the plane and the grounds.

The driveway to get up to the plane sit is very steep and narrow, I needed a bit of a run up from the road to avoid wheelspin on the loose chippings at the start - which he explicitly asks you to avoid on the website. But managed fine in our 2wd.

We parked on the right hand side of the plane in line with the nose. An incredible spot to camp. Quite hard to find flat ground but we made do. We stayed Saturday night, at about 10pm 15 or 20 kids came out of the woods and started hanging out on the plane wing for a couple of hours. Probably only likely to happen on a weekend evening.

Overall an incredible place to stay and massive thanks to Bruce for his amazing hospitality. Especially considering he doesn't want payment for anything!

Bruce is a super cool guy and very welcoming. I read and followed his guidelines at www.airplanehome.com and had a great stay on his property. Two bars of Verizon 4G LTE, there is a toilet you can use in the hosts home in a pinch, but better to have your own solution. There is power and host is generous about allowing use. Lots of visitors stopped by while I was here and although he said I was not obligated to do anything I did offer him a few of the meals I cooked and also took a trash bag of his to dispose of when I left. He was really appreciative. This 727 is one of the most imaginative conversions I've ever experienced.
