This actually doesn't require a permit but it is free so best to get one. at the top of the hill, turn right and follow the road back. There are so many sites, some level, some on the edge of the cliff. Depending on angle we had 1-2 bars 4G LTE Verizon service. Enough to stream YouTube vids. Drove to Kodachrome Basin State Park and did laundry ($2.25 wash/$1.50 dryer) and paid $1 for a hot shower.

This place is great! I would say good for small vans. NO TRAILERS! I have a Sprinter 170 2wd and it was tight. Fine getting up the road (dry conditions), but tight with the 170 in the camping area. I'd recommend driving in straight if you have a larger vehicle. There are many sites in this area, but definitely not all good for campers, many better for tenting. I had the most gorgeous view and only one other campervan (promaster) when I was there. Super quiet and would have stayed longer except on day 2 the wind picked up and the fine red dirt was flying everywhere so I moved onto Kodachrome State park for my 2nd night.

I think you can make it here in a regular car(not high clearance or 4x4). Super quiet and beautiful view.

Report Check-In

Big valley view. 3 or 4 good sites. We had Promaster vans

Stayed 2 nights on a solo trip and it was perfect!

Report Check-In

Not for trailers. We disconnected our 18ft TT and drove up to the site. It is beautiful. Road 500 is very steep and washboard for our trailer. 3 bars Verizon.

Report Check-In

great views of multiple canyons. sign says limited to 4x4 with high clearance but made it fine in cargo camper van. bit of snow and some mud affect traction at site.

Report Check-In

Amazing views for sunrise and sunset! AT&T cell signal is best in back right corner where view is best as well, but signal does cover the area. This is a tight little area, with one road spur that heads off down to the left somewhere. The camp area and the steep skinny road are not meant for RV’s or trailers.

Report Check-In

Beautiful view. Place for several rigs (not at the shore)

Amazing wonderfull
Better with 4x4

Clean and calme

Report Check-In

Great little spot with views you dream about. Make sure you have something to level your rig because there is not flat ground.
