Description

The Onguma game reserve is right next to Etosha and has multple campsites and a lodge. This is the Tamboti campsite.

Opened just a couple of years ago: each campsite is secluded with modern ablutions, a kitchen area, electricity and a braai.

There’s a small swimming pool, a restaurant - fast wifi - with a view over a floodlighted waterhole. Accessible for motorbikes and big rigs.

They offer game drives & bushwalks into Etosha and their own reserve

Price - March ‘23 - is N$405ppn - half for kids.
They also sell drinks and braai-packs at the restaurant.

Great campsite with private bathroom and shower . Only campsite . The central area with a nice restaurant. It has a viewpoint overlooking a pond where animals come to drink. I payed 400 ZAR

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 4 nights after re entering Namibia from some time in Angola. I think it is a lovely place to stay, luxury camping with big sites, private bathrooms, kitchen and laundry area, bbq and firepit. A really nice swimming pool, bar/restaurant and waterhole. 8 lions came at 8pm one evening. The perfect place to recharge and relax. WiFi was good at the pool and bar/restaurant but also excellent 4g MTC .810 Ndollars for 2 people per night. wood 65ND per bundle.

Is a private area just outside Etosha/Onguma gate. Very confortable place, nice reception with a waterhole although not so many animals there. Wifi is bad even in the restaurant. Has a swimming pool, bar and store. Campsite is quiet, very separated from each other by the bush, with electricity, individual ablutions (so clean!!), kitchen station, braai, lots of energy plugs, big sinks (could wash the clothes). Had the best camping structure compared to other campings in our whole trip. Paid NAD810 2 people 1 night. Staying inside Etosha is nice because you can watch the waterhole at night and is already inside the park, but this is a better option just outside. Was a bit cheaper (810 x 900NAD compared to Halali) but way better ablutions.

Beautiful campsite just outside Nomutoni Gate. Clean ablutions. Lovely food and menu. Enjoyed the waterhole

Report Check-In

Excellent campsite. Nice big pitch with private ablutions (very clean) and sink. Hot and cold water. Shower very nice, hot water. Drinkable water. Power outlets. Braai stand. Very nice restaurant and menu. Very nice pool. Would recommend.

Report Check-In

Just updating the price. It's now 405N$/ppn.

Report Check-In

N380pp, which although may sounds expensive, comes with private camp grounds (each with their own patch of grass). The most impressive private facilities we've seen, private ablutions with hot shower, laundry sink in addition to kitchen sinks and undercover area you could set up in the rain. the restaurant overlooks a private waterhole not 15m away; we saw zebra, giraffe, oryx and dikdik while we were there.

Report Check-In

All previous comments standq, iit is expensive but still it is a good The staff are notoarticulr.y friendly but to get things done

Report Check-In

Great spot, as described below… We had a great stay!

Report Check-In

Big gate just outside the park, a gatekeeper will open up. Price now N$350pppn plus $100 for a rhino levy? The sites are with private conveniences and are very nice. The wifi is just at the main building and the waterhole had a kudu come visit in the poor lighting.

Report Check-In

800 dollar for 2 persons. So same price as in Etosha, but for a way better campsite. Nice swimming pool area. Own ablution, everything was very clean.

Report Check-In

Place as written before, 340 nad p.p., not negiotable. Yes, they use there position right before the gate. Now with "rhino levy" 100 nad per site per day. Hope
it's really for protection of rhinos...

Report Check-In

Now 340 ND pppn! In times of Corona, where a campsite in Etosha NP costs 200 ND way too expensive. So for the most expensive camp I was in Namibia during the last 3 years...

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 2 nights before going into Etoscha Park. Facilities are nice, with a pool and a restaurant. We found it a bit overpriced now they charge 340 N$ pppn.

Report Check-In

A gorgeous campsite where you get your own personal block of ablution and kitchen area. You can see small animals and birds roaming around. Pleasant place to be.
We paid $280 pppn which is expensive but you do get nice facilities and your own place.

Report Check-In

280 pppn, see other descriptions, we liked the place, much better than in Etosha.

Report Check-In

we had a lovely New Year's Dinner that was worth it and a great experience.
the camp is close to the Etosha Park, but not directly in. But we didn't mind that and stayed two nights

Report Check-In

The price is now N$280pppn on sandy stands. Still very nice and no matter what it is 100% better than staying at one of the NWR camps inside Etosha.

Report Check-In

The Onguma game reserve - directly next to Etosha - has a bushcampsite, a lodge and this campsite called Tamboti. The 18 campsite fill quickly, so beter to reserve ahead in high season.

Everything was as mentioned below: pool, restaurant - including fast wifi - floodlighter waterhole en very nice and private campsites.

Report Check-In

Very nice place to stay for a few nights. We called a few hours before arriving - was very convenient since they are close to the Von Lindequist Gate (east Etosha NP) and cost 255pppn for campsite.
They had a very nice set up, with many campsites and rooms closer to the reception. Wifi and pool close to the reception and they seem to have a very nice restaurant and a 3-course menu for dinner but we had our own meal at our campsite.

They were very well set up with a braai, lots of trees and enough space, outdoor sinks with hot water and a private bathroom with shower and toilet (and hot water). Electricity available at the campsite. We would definitely like to come back if last minute is not available in the park.

Report Check-In

Was told this is only open from April on, so we went 8km up the dirt road to the main lodge

Report Check-In

Camping is now 255 pppn.

Unfortunately selfdrive is not possible.

Take a small swim in the pool and cooling down is really nice in the heat.

The camp is a good alternative to the NP camps, which are still more expensive. The staff was super polite. WiFi was extremely slow - almost like nothing.
Signal with MTC is weak - only EDGE

Report Check-In

Nice, spacious campsites with good facilities, as already described. Good meals (costing around N$150) in restaurant overlooking a lit waterhole where we saw common duiker and oryx. Staff very polite and professional.

Price has now gone up to N$255 pppn, and the manager told us he expects it to continue increasing at a similar rate. Despite being quite a nice site, it's too expensive in my opinion, and I would rather pay a little bit more to stay inside the National Park.

Report Check-In

Nice place to explore Etosha from. Only 2km from the gate. Private and clean ablutionblock with kitchen area. The campsites are quite small an close to each other. Staff were a bit unfriendly. 230ND pppn

Report Check-In

Stayed here again a year on, definitely beats the campsites in the park. Facilities still in good condition, fast WiFi and excellent restaurant

Report Check-In

Great location and excellent facilities. Expensive (220N$ pppn) but worth it. Wifi didn't work when I visited and the water from the taps is milky white. Wouldn't recommend drinking it or even using it for cooking. Private ablutions are awesome though!

Report Check-In

Large shady spots to camp, just outside of Etosha gate. Outstanding private toilet, shower and kitchen area. Staff are a little inflexible. Nice swimming pool. Bar with view on lighted waterhole, spotted a rhino! 220,- NAD pppn.

Report Check-In

Meals are fantastic, dinner around $90N, beers around $25N. Hot showers. 4.5 hour morning game drive for $610N, with afternoon and sunset drives as well for cheaper. Make sure you bring Namibian adapter plugs to plug into their outlets.

Report Check-In

each pitch secluded with own modern shower and toilet and a kitchen area. pitches have grass for tents. fire place but no Braai area. swimming pool. accessible for motorbikes. game drives to Pvt reserve and etosha NP. both very much worth the effort.
N$200 pp (half price for kids )
