Description

Seasonal road closures to be aware of - closed 5/18/23. Road/gate open on 7/26/23.
.....
Pull-off on the side of the road with a fire ring. There are two more spots up the hill for high-clearance vehicles. The road in is bumpy but not bad! We made it fine with a 15ft pull-behind, 2wd and relatively low clearance. Great ATT service

Latest Check-Ins

spent another night, but temps warmed and snow melt is making it soupy. and while I have 4wd, the rig is not light (12k) and didn't want to experience the deep mud..

Report Check-In

as described, appears to be an upper level, but didn't attempt in the snow.

VZW LTE 80+Mbps down, 4+ up with ~-108db on LTE CA B5

Report Check-In

2 sites, 1 in pulloff and the other up a steep rocky bank. went up in truck in 2wd. hi clearance. both spots are good.

Report Check-In

we were looking forward to camping here, but like others have mentioned, the road has so many potholes, the drive was really not fun in our 2WD van. we made it about halfway down the road before we ran into huge muddy potholes that we didn’t want to risk getting stuck in. 4WD would be best. bummed that they don’t maintain this road more.

Report Check-In

Good spot for a quick overnight near Yellowstone. The road was super bumpy, but we did fine in our 2WD campervan going slow. Nice cleaning to get some solar the morning we were there. We saw a huge grizzly on the drive in less than a mile from the spot, so be bear safe! Bring bug nets too as there were lots of mosquitoes! So, so quiet though!

Report Check-In

This place is not closed. There is a gate as the previous poster described, but it is not at this spot, it is well before it and it is closed certain times of the year (likely for weather, animal protection, etc).

We stayed here, no issues. The road is very bumpy.

Report Check-In

Beware of seasonal closures - attempted on 5/18/23 but gate closed appx 1.5-2 miles prior to spot with sign posted stating ‘road not open yet’ without any information when reopening.

Report Check-In

Nice pull off as stated. We stayed on the road side one and another van with higher clearance got up to the upper site. Doesn’t seem like any traffic other than people find a spot for the night. The road in is very pothole filled but nothing unmanageable if you take it slow

Report Check-In

Came back for another night. The spot on the first plateau is the nicest: sunlight until late and early in the morning.

Report Check-In

There are actually three spots here, the last one only for capable vehicles but completely hidden. Very quiet yet conveniently close to the Yellowstone park. Note that this site doesn't get direct sunlight until 10:00am (in September).

Report Check-In

Nice pull out for the 2WD next to the road and one more spot upper for the 4WD… there is also a third spot still upper but the acces is risky even for hight clearance. There is room for one close to the road and for 2 up

Report Check-In

Nice spot with a fire ring and space to park. More level than some of the other turnouts. Quiet and peaceful night. In the morning, we were surrounded by a swarm of flying ants, but from looking on the internet, it seems to only happen once a year, so you’ll probably be okay.

Report Check-In

Pull-off on the side of the road with a fire ring. There’s other spots up the hill but we didn’t try it with our camper trailer. The road in is bumpy but not bad! We made it fine with a 15ft pull-behind, 2wd and relatively low clearance. Great ATT service
