Something not right?

Description

Beautiful free camping area. No hookups anywhere. Pack in and pack out. Very dispersed. Barely see anyone else. If you go to the end of the gravel road there’s an awesome overlook of the river! Highly recommend this place. A lot of hiking trails too. Take a look at all the campsites before choosing which one you want to stay. They get better the further you go back! Verizon cell service is great the further back you go.

Camping is free, but you must register by calling the County at 859-567-7021. The road in is kind of rough in a few spots, not recommended for big rigs. Good Tmobile signal.

Big change to regulations as of the end of Feb 2023, per their Facebook page! You have to pre-register in person at their office in Warsaw (about a 20 min drive away)

I had trouble finding the location, I recommend using the address on the Facebook page if you navigate with Google maps like I do. Beautiful campsites and not busy. Wonderful view of the river at the end of the road. Be very careful where you drive on the campsites off of the gravel road so you don’t get stuck like I did! When I found the entry gate i found a number on the sign to call, they asked me to call after you pick your campsite and it was on a first come basis.

Free campsite over the hill. From site 10 you can see Ohio river. Mud can be a problem.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsites to choose from, most had a table and/or fire ring, though some were too muddy to drive in. The road to get in and through the park is rough. My dog and I had a great time!

Unfortunately the snow was not melted when we arrived. The road was a solid layer of ice and although we have nice tires we do not have 4x4 and felt uncomfortable going past the pavilion at the entrance. We slept there with no issue. Later that night another van attempted to go further than us and got stuck. They were pulled out by a tow truck. Glad we stayed at the entrance! Good AT&T service.

Very quiet, amazing view on Ohio river, but not for big rigs. Small and very narrow roads. Campsites are accessible for small rv only (mountain road, gravel pavement, pothole).

Amazing location! There are 10 camp sites that are spread out down the gravel road. Each looked very nice all with picnic tables and fire rings. The farther back you go the closer your you are to the river overlook. There was a sign saying it was closed for hunting only the second half of November. I might have to spend a few nights here, very peaceful.

This place is a gem! 10 primitive camping spots spread graciously throughout. Tons and tons of hiking trails of varying difficulties. Each spot has a fire ring and picnic table. There are trashcans and port a pottys spread out amongst the reserve. The areas by the barn and outlook get busy but overall a nice quiet stay.

Gravel road in and out, drive slow and be cautious if recently rained

Free camping but should call number ahead of time to book campsite. I found a copy of the map on the Facebook page with the campsites numbered. Portapotty and trash can but nothing special. Campsites had picnic table and fire ring. A little buggy but beautiful night sky and overlook of the Ohio river at the end of gravel road. Verizon has great connection. Very rocky road to get into reserve and even rockier road leading to campsites. Be careful if it has rained recently lots of potholes and mud.
