I drove my Saudi registered Land Cruiser to Amman from Riyadh and needed customs clearance to ship it onward to Türkiye to continue my journey from there. This is a “special case”, ie nothing anyone here seemed to have encountered before, and took three days. This involved (in addition to the permit and insurance obtained at the land border) getting a traffic police clearance from Saudi, tax number, customs authorization on the temporary vehicle permit and authorization letter from me to the shipping agent. It required multiple visits to tax and customs offices and the public notary. Could not have done it without Mohammed Al Mansour at Salam Logistics, handling the shipping.

Quick and easy process, it took 15min, 20 JD for one month extension. We organised the car insurance upfront in Amman, see other post. They did not check the car. As per other customs offices this is the only place in Jordan to extend the customs for your car. He did not want to see the visa, so I assume you can extend the customs here and then extend the visa in Aqaba or so.

Documents required:
- Car insurance & document
- Driving license
- Passport

If you want to extend your Visa, you can do it at the Police station, I already put here on iOverlander, but you also need to extend the stay of your car, which has to be made here.
We extended the stay of our Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 (3,5T) and paid:
20JD Customs Fee
100 JD Insurance (for one month)

There's no way around the insurance. You only get the extension, once the officers sees the new insurance.
