Description

The ecuator goes actually through this site, while apparently the Intinan site and the Ciudad Mitad del Mundo don't show the real equator.
I don't know if the ecuator is exactly going through the tall monument or the small one or next to it but its a nice place to take pictures (can even have your rig behind it). It is free and when we where there during the week there was absolutely no one around. The road up is narrow and in bad condition, high clearance might not be a bad idea but you can try without if you're adventerous.

Latest Check-Ins

The road is not in great shape but doable on an adventure motorcycle.

Report Check-In

Drove with our campervan (3.5ton, 6m long, 2WD front) almost up to the site. We parked approx. 700m away, before it got even more steep. Before this very steep last section is a flat area to park.
Road was generally doable, but we were lucky with no traffic going up or down.
Would NOT do it again, but rather take a taxi or bicycle.

Report Check-In

Alternate equator marker to Mitad del Mundo park. Road up is a bit rough but saw a few little Yellow taxis with passengers tackle it. Be sure to take the Southern road in as Google may lead you astray.

Report Check-In

the view up here is pretty good, but wow... this road is scary. 4x4 or high clearance not required, but it's a long steep single lane road with not many pull outs and massive exposure to a 800m cliff. worse than trampoline del Diablo in Colombia as this has wash outs and undercut embankment. we came on a Sunday and it was very busy! a stubborn taxi driver with passengers clipped our rear bumper as he passed and didn't even stop.
