iOverlander cannot verify if wild camping is permitted at this location. It is your responsibility to verify local laws or obtain consent before staying the night.
A hidden place next to the street with 4 or 5 options to find a nice view directly to Lake Superior. The street you can hear a little bit. Despite we had a rainy day we had enjoyed the view and a great lazy day at this place. If the weather is well, you can go swimming in the lake. Few great spots to go fishing too. There is a loop at the end of the road for turning around.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Camping is very much allowed here. They nevertheless recommend respecting the place and picking up the waste after our visit. The pebble and rock beach is superb. Several RVs were on the ground. There is room for several vehicles.
Report Check-InTons of sites here, free camping, there are rules however, number one is dont Friggan litter.
Report Check-InThis is THE SPOT ! Wild camps, near rocky beach lake, pit fire, intimity with woods. Very quiet, peacefull, with charming neighbors. That’s a little paradise.
Report Check-InYES, as described. Roads and spots gravel, beach rocky. Can hear trucks during the day, quiet at night.
Report Check-Innice place for a night beautiful views and quiet at night!
keep it clean guys:))
Best place for a night!! No more words are needed!! :)
Please keep clean this place!!
what a spot.. it is amazing. waves on the see like a ocen, because it' very stormy today. Camping is currently allowed.
Report Check-InNice spot! As described- Please pick up after yourselves or we are going to loose this nice spot. Hubby and I spent some time cleaning up some broken glass etc.
Report Check-InThank you Ioverlander for another great free spot. Best one yet. This an Ontario Minister provide camping location. Only a few rules to follow. Pack it in pack it out. leave no trace and do no harm. Also enjoy the view. It's close to the highway, but you can't beat the view.
Report Check-InIt's a yes!! Much, much better than Pancake Provincial Park (unless you like paying $50+, being close to neighbours, having your dog on leash & not allowed at beach!) Beach is rocky, waves sound great, nice fire pit, very easy to drive down with a truck and trailer. Amazing sunsets, some traffic noise, really just lovely.
Report Check-InSuper nice place. Differents spots. Amazing view . Close to road but traffic quiet at night.
Nice firepit but bring your woods.
No pit toilet, no trash can so bring your stuff away or this place will be closed.
Report Check-InGreat spot, crown land. This is one of our favorite spots, lots of spots to camp or just for the day.
Report Check-InStayed 3 days explored the rocks. Beautiful spot on the lake. Injoy the views
Report Check-InReally awesome and fully legal place to stay the night, signs explicitly allow camping here. However please leave no trace, how hard can it be? One of the fire pits we parked next to had a whole trash bag worth of plastic garbage in it! We ended up picking it up. If you can’t respect nature enough to not litter then don’t go camping ffs!
Report Check-InThis is a real gem. While it can be challenging to find nice spots where you feel safe, this is a blessing. Plenty of space, lots of fire pits, BEAUTIFUL views of the lake from the rocks or from the shore. Plenty of space to go fishing or walk around a bit. There is even a sign specifying that it is an unmanaged site from the Ministry of Natural Resources stating that they want to keep this spot free and open to everyone so they are relying on people being respectful and clean, so make sure to leave no trace.
Report Check-InSuper spot ! Proche de la route mais la nuit très peu de voiture. Emplacement feu. Et site propre. On est resté deux nuit en tente de toit. Parfait !
Report Check-InOne of the best spots we’ve stayed! We stayed for 2 nights. There was only one other camper. The bugs were pretty bad, but the views and rock hounding made it worth it. We will definitely be back.
Report Check-InAMAZING spot to camp for a few days! We shared the right side with two other campers the first night, and moved closer to the water on the second night. Lots more spots on the left side. Plenty of fire rings, can find flat spots, beautiful noise of waves, agate to hunt for, lots of warblers in the spring. Highly recommend! There is a sign posted by the Ministry of Natural Resources explaining the rules of how to keep this open camp area clean and free for everybody.
Report Check-InNot officially closed for winter but we could not get in today as there is still too much snow on the entry road. maybe in a week or so.
Report Check-InThis was our first time using the app. We absolutely loved the spot right on the lake. Weather was cool but dry. Had a marvelous sunset, after we cooked on the rock beach. Had a fire and saw a sky filled with stars! Highly recommend the site.
Report Check-InPlanned on stopping for lunch, but it was too beautiful to keep our visit short. Windy in the afternoon, but died down overnight. Without the wind and the waves the highway was loud.
Report Check-InSpent the night. Sunset was awesome. Quiet place. No other campers. Make sure to leave no trace so this place can stay free for others.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot, lovely sunsets, multiple private spots, please remember to keep it clean or they will close these gems, take your TP with you! Cell service is minimal.
Report Check-InGood spot there is a few spots but still private. Hope it dose get shut down. People please take your garbage and Toilet paper with you. Stayed the night no problems Rocky shore. Over all good
Report Check-InWonderful spot right on the lake, beautiful views, fire pits and many spaces for cars, tents and campers. Lots of trash/toilet paper discarded. Please pick up after yourselves!
Report Check-InExceptional spot(s). Appears to be within Ontario Park's juridiction as white/green signs mention explicit permission to camp conditional to prooving that you are an intelligent being by not littering and not cutting down trees. I believe my neighbor might be from a distant Galaxy...
Anyway if you follow the trail after the sign you will go through multiple sites of various sizes generally well separated from each other.
They appeared to be generally well taken care off although some extraterrestrials seem to think trash goes into the firepit after you leave and cutting down birch on park land is fine...
Report Check-InYep, one of our favourites. All setup and May stay a couple of days.
Report Check-InAmazing. I have nothing to add from the other comments. We found it easily based on the GPS coordinates. There are multiple campsites and plenty of privacy from others nearby.
Report Check-InNice place right next to the water, but I would not be surprised if it gets shut down soon. We stayed here 2 separate times and both times it was fairly busy (not necessarily a bad thing but do not expect privacy), there were loud generators running and people taking up quite a lot of space when they didn't need to. Both times we went there there was garbage in MULTIPLE fire pits. Seriously people CLEAN UP YOUR GARBAGE INCLUDING TOILET PAPER. It's gross. Pack your garbage out or this place will be permanently closed because people are gross and disrespectful of the environment
Report Check-Inbeautiful and breath-taking. lots of places to build a fire safely. most people I am sure treat the area well, but we picked up some litter and clearly people have not read "How to shit in the woods" and no not get leave no trace. we need to care for these places, lest the government close them!
Report Check-InBeautiful sunset. Nice big camping spot for my travel trailer. Very popular. Besides my trailer there is a Class C motor home, a Dodge Caravan, another 3 cars one of which has a car top tent.泰行天下此地一遊。
泰行天下此地一之
Report Check-InGreat spot.
Nothing to disrupt you but some traffic noise during the day and an obnoxious Canadian with his 30foot caravan, unruly kids, roaming dogs, and generator running all day and night
Beautiful location, will come back for sure! Enough room for a few vehicles to share the area. Traffic noise as you’re right off of the trans Canada but the view is worth it!
Report Check-InQuelle belle place, propre, tranquille
Belle vue sur le lac et les rochers.
Un pit a feu, larges emplacements, nous avons passé 2 nuits
Spectacular location, we loved it so much we stayed 3 days before heading to Sleeping Giant
Was a little disappointed in the trash left by previous users
Like the sign said “help keep it clean or it will be shut down for remediation”
I highly recommend this place
Very nice place. Hard to find if you're not in the day. It's right where the GPS location. Had to pass by 2 times before we saw it (was night time). A 24 feet trailer fit without issues.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot next to the water, with an amazing sunset. I loved having the sound of the waves throughout the night. Decent flat spots for tents. We arrived quite late to set up our tent and were surrounded by mosquitoes so make sure to set camp earlier.
Report Check-Inbeautiful place! got a spot by the water and the sunset was amazing. lots of space for multiple cars as mentioned with fire pits
Report Check-InReally lovely. Saw a beautiful sunset. There were several others here. Some garbage is beginning to accumulate -- please clean up after yourselves!!
Report Check-InGreat spot and accessible in the winter. No other campers on this date but there were some tire marks in the snow. Stayed one night.
Report Check-InStayed here 2 nights. A few other campers/vans. Very quiet. Nice view!
Report Check-InAmazing spot right off the highway!! You can faintly here the trucks at night, but the sound of the waves covers most noses.
Service is pretty bad but i had one bar in some spots. Completely alone and beautiful despite the rain. Wish i could have stayed longer!!
Beautiful, free campground along Lake Superior. Road was a bit muddy and uneven but we did fine in our Honda Pilot.
There were at least 2 trailers parked there that didn't appear to have any occupants while we were there.
Campground was quiet with lovely views. Please keep it clean so this free space stays open (see attached photo for rules). No toilets or running water so bring everything you need.
A gem, please leave no trace so it stays open. When visited it was busy, many Rv and some tents too.
Report Check-InFantastic place to stay, quiet and right on the water. Fire rings provided.
Report Check-InAmazing spot right on a cliff, overlooking Lake Superior. Access to water at some points. Sit on the rocks & watch the sunset!
We swam & the water was beautiful but just be cautious as the rocks underneath can be slightly sharp to walk on.
A good few spots to choose from for tent / vehicle camping. We also had a fire pit.
There is a road with a dead end after the camp spots that can be awkward to reverse out of - just be wary!
Awesome location by Lake Superior. During our stay was quite busy but there are a lot of spots where to set-up. The two main areas have fire pits and the trail continues to couple more locations. Beware that after the last location the trail is a dead end and you will have to back up out of there.
Report Check-InPerfect spot for a night or a couple nights. Camping is permitted. There is plenty of room and a few firepits but no toilets. The view of the Lake is just incredible.
Report Check-InPerfect spot for the night. it was quite busy but there was enough room for everyone. I didn't see any big rigs, mainly vans and tents. Manoeuvring something large could be tricky.
Report Check-InSpot next to highway. Great views of the lake, but lots of truck traffic. Can be quiet in the evening when traffic calms down. Lots of toilet paper in the woods around so be careful where you walk.
Report Check-InStopped here during the day, wished I could have stayed the night. Great beach, enough space for a few campers. Sign says camping will be tolerated as long as the land is respected - some trash laying around so hopefully that doesn't change
Report Check-InUnreal spot, wicked view, the spot i chose had a little table & 2 firepits. Right by water. Super private. It wasn’t noisy & I slept in my tent. Toilet paper everywhere in the forest, pretty sad.
Report Check-InThe title is correct, this is an absolutely beautiful stop. This is on a sliver of public land right on the coast and you get beautiful views and nice sunsets. The bugs can be a little intense and there isn't much good wood, but otherwise a perfect spot. There are quite a few camps here.
Report Check-InNice place right at the lake, hidden from the road. Easy to find with the coordinates. Few people where here but you have many spit and we were alone in our. The view is really cool, fire pits made with rocks, a bench. Near the road but not noisy. I would come back.
Report Check-InIt’s wonderful, we loved it. There’s a lot of fire pit, sadly it rained all day
Report Check-InVery nice place ! Perfect for sunset. The road is close but it’s not too noisy
Report Check-Injolie place, on entend un peu le bruit du traffic mais ça va. facile d'accès!
Report Check-InWonderful place. Lot of space, your own privacy, direct access to the shore and small beaches. Fire pit. No mosquitoes for us ;)
Report Check-InWonderful, not too hard to find. Good single track gravel road that was very narrow. Great location on the rocky shore of the lake. Very little road noise because the crashing waves drowned out the sound.
Report Check-InReally nice place ! You have lot of different spots with lake view. The sunset is really beautiful. The road is just behind but it’s ok not to much nose. Data coverage is pretty bad.
Report Check-InAwesome spot for hanging out. Spent 2 nights here, with 2 beautiful sunsets. Many little spots to choose from. Take it slow coming up to the turn spot as it's easily missed. Other rv's could find a spot so suitable for everyone. Nice fire pits, but I'd suggest taking some logs with you.
Please keep this area nice by picking up after your pets.
Report Check-InWow! Compare to Cape Breton or northern CA highway 1! Some spots are closer to the road, but most are not visible from the road, right at the top of the rock and cobble beach.
Report Check-InIndeed still as described. We arrived around 20:30 o'clock and the spots alongside the lake were all filled up already.
Nice scenery, mosquitoes at first, but not too much as it cooled down in the night.
Saw cans of Budweiser lying around, very disrespectful towards the First Nations as well as the environment.
Report Check-InLovely little spot, we stayed for one night. The water was cold but went for a dip in the morning, freshens & wakes you up that’s for sure. Highly recommend. The sunset was beautiful!
Report Check-InAmazing spot, really easy to get to. There are a few different spots to choose from. Make sure you take your garbage with you, let’s keep this place clean!
Report Check-InAbsolutely beautiful location. No signs made the turnoff a bit sketchy, so take it slow if you think you’re close. Everything is just so nice here, reminds us of BC. Could spend many days here
Report Check-InGreat place! The water looks amazing, I would have jumped in if it wasn't so cold!
But please, keep it clean! Don't leave garbage or toilet paper!
lovely little spot as described. Some snow still on the ground in May!
Some litter - don't forget to take it with you guys!
very nice, Sperber endroit au bord du lac Supérieur, a voir, beau petit chemin pour s'y rendre. un classe C passe bien mais un classe A pourrait frotter un peu aux branches.
Michel
Quiet place with a lot (tones) of mosquitoes, near the highway and a nice view. We recommended this place for few nights.
Report Check-InLovely spot. A little bit of road noise, but well worth it for this spot.
Report Check-InVery nice place, but you can hear the noisy trucks.
We shared the place with a spanish cyclist touring the Americas.
Pebble beach with wonderful view.
Be prepared for a viciuos mosquito attack!
as described, perfect place, access to the lake, quiet, amazing view.
Report Check-InGreat spot, thanks! It's just outside the national park, no permit required here. Locals told me that this land belongs to first nation and they have no rules for this spot. Feel free to use it! And offcourse maintain it correctly. Everybody does.
Report Check-InYes! that's exactly what I under freecamping imagine. Thanks you for sharing!
please keep the place clean. PS.: you can burn your used Toilet paper in the fire pit....
A hidden place next to the street with 4 or 5 options to find a nice view directly to Lake Superior. The street you can hear a little bit. Despite we had a rainy day we had enjoyed the view and a great lazy day at this place. If the weather is well, you can go swimming in the lake.
