Quiet parking lot in a picnic area in Hancock, MD. Was directed to this spot by a local friendly fireman. Another vehicle arrived after I parked and also stayed the night. 24 hour bathroom access. Very pretty next to the river and 2 bicycle trails.

National Parks Police knocked at 19:00. He was friendly but asked for our ID, ran it in the system for any previous national parks warnings, and gave us a warning. No camping allowed.

Beautiful spot. Had a good night. Signs show many official camp spots nearby. These sites are inaccessible by vehicles. For water/bicycle/hikers along the Potomac River and canal.

Nice little park close to the creek/river/canal. Signs did not prohibit camping or overnight parking. There were lots of cars parked there when we arrived around 4pm with most biking the nearby trails. Another van showed up closer to sunset to stay the night too. A bit of train and nearby road noise but nothing kept us awake. Picnic tables and lots of grass/shady areas available. Bathrooms were there but we did not check them out. Overall a very nice overnight stay.

Report Check-In

Truly great place to stay.

Only caveat is mowers came this morning and our van was pelted with little rocks and pebbles so beware of that if you hear them starting their operation.

Beautiful, quiet stay with view of the canal. Relatively quiet with a few cars in and out, but not loud at all. Bathroom had no lights, was pretty “grungy” so we used our camp toilet. Had five bars of cell signal! Honestly pleased with this as our first real boondocking experience. Just one night on our way to northern PA.

Report Check-In

It was past 10pm and dark when I arrived. There were about 5 other cars parked in the lot, but I don’t know how many might have had people overnighting in them. The bathroom has running water, but no soap or hand sanitizer so you may want to make sure you have some if you plan to use it. Otherwise it was a nice place to stop and sleep.

Good overnight. Quiet. One other car. This is a National Park space along the C&O Canal. Sign says open sunrise to sunset. Easy walk to town and fun eatery. Verizon service.

Great park, nice and quiet. Great stop before heading DC or Baltimore. Benches and Picnic area. BBQ grills available too. May be quiet enough to overnight here. May have to check signs. was here in am.
