Came across Hartig Park after passing the original spot I was looking for. This park, while closing at dark, has FREE dispersed, 14 day maximum camping.
There are a total of 10 dry camping spots, each with a fire pit and a picnic table.
No reservations required. All they ask is that you call them when you pick a camping spot. (Which are numbered) The number to call dispatch is, (859) 567-7021.
Very nice dispatcher.
1-2 bars T-Mobile
3-4 bars Verizon.
—Verizon is better at the top of hills
No off-road vehicles permitted. 2-wheel can make it, but may want to stay out or in when it has been raining. Minimal potholes, one on the grass road that snuck up on me.
The spots are very dispersed. Heading into spot 8 I only saw one other camper who brought a short bus in.
Please leave no trace, pack it in pack it out. There are a few Porta potty‘s as well. Lots of horse riding paths and walking trails. This location is a gem for remote workers & other campers. Quiet and beautiful.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Taller vehicles please be careful when driving the two mile stretch of road before the park. Was only there for the day to do some hiking but definitely a plan to stay longer when the weather is warmer.
No cell service for T-mobile
