Latest Check-Ins

City has changed signs. No parking between 1am and 5am. No parking for vehicles more than 20ft or over 7.5 ft 24/7. All the vans have left the island.

Report Check-In

There are signs prohibiting staying overnight. Last week the law changed in the city and you can no longer sleep in parking lots. This is due to the large volume of people living in Van.

Great place directly at the water👍🏾no issues and for free…

Report Check-In

Fantastic place to spend the night, parallel parking next to the water. Just observe signs for boat trailer parking elsewhere in the lot. The lot closer to the road has signs posted 24-hour parking.
Other end (middle) of the island posted no parking from 10:30 pm to 6:00 am. Street parking posted no parking 3am-4:30am.

We left each day and came back 3 more nights.

Report Check-In

As of right now, it’s a decent place for overnight parking. But the amount of vans and RVs is growing tremendously, and many people are being fairly abusive about it. This will lead to issues, so let’s try together to be smart about it.

The cops have and will enforce the usual San Diego prohibitions on living and sleeping in your vehicle. Make no mistake about it, camping in your vehicle here is pushing the law. There is a police station with an extensive presence on the island. Many people have received tickets, even though they turn a blind eye to lots more. The more severe the abuse gets, the more it’s noticed by residents, visitors, and police - the more likely the entire situation will change.

If you visit, please be smart about it. The vast majority use this as a quick overnight spot and nothing else - come in late, don’t make it obvious you’re inside, and leave early. If everyone sticks to this, it will help keep the police enforcement to a minimum. If you want to stay nearby during the day, consider moving around from your overnight parking spot and try to keep your visibility to a minimum.

Report Check-In

we parked in the oversized parking spots and did get a ticket (no parking between 1030-6). there were 5 other campers that got the same ticket in these specific parking spots.

There was a guy parked there and he told us that the police will just ticket vans and rvs in different areas on different nights so it's luck of the draw where you are parked. the vans parked in other areas of this lot did not get ticketed.

Report Check-In

Stayed here on two seperate occasions, once in the upper parking lot nu Bali Hai and once in the lower one by the water. Both times no troubles, at least 25 other RVs and vans there both nights, lovely to wake up next to the water in the lower parking lot. There is a naval Helicopters base across the water that made a bit of noise but nothing too bad.
