Description

Community campsite in the bush south of Moremi with its own game drives, solar-heated showers and clean sites. Unfortunately they charge a ridiculous 290Pula (24€) pp or 210Pula (17€) pp if you are South African so we did not stay.

Little shade from the trees, no grass and decent tent-like ablutions. The „restaurant“ served only (fairly) cold drinks and had an excellent view over an artificial waterhole with a continuous coming and going of elephants. At 450 BWP ppn you need a good reason for staying here, between the park and Maun and far from attractions and infrastrucure.

Well spaced, very basic camp sites. The braais and ablutions need a bit of TLC.
For us it was a perfect stop over before driving through Moremi.
We had a lot of elephant visit the waterhole while we stayed, and a few walk 6m away from us while we sipped a gin and tonic. Perfect.
Many kudu also visited.
So many reviews say the price for camping is high, but really it’s in keeping with what you get in this area. The area is more expensive than others because it’s a big tourist destination and it’s remote - it’s pretty simple.

They have a small bar with cold beers in the fridge and warm smiles. The staff helped us out even though we didn’t have a booking.

We stayed here for 1 night only on our way to third bridge. It’s a lovely spacious campsite with lots of privacy between the sites. We were the only ones there. Hot showers on solar and running water. Unfortunately it’s crazy expensive, they recently changed their prices and became even more expensive. 260 for SADC, 380 for internationals. However they didn’t ask for identification. We passed another camp on the way here, and another one just 5 further down the road, both are not mentioned on iOverlander so might be worth trying. We had elephants coming through our camp and heard lots of hyenas at night.

We stayed at Acacia site 2, near their permanent water hole and watched dozens of elephants come and go all day! Short walk to the ablutions, which are clean. There is a restaurant/bar but you must book ahead ahead of time for meals. Had a honey badger clamber around on our vehicle overnight and heard lions roaring nearby. Nice to be able to support a community-owned site!

Kaziikini is an unfenced bush camp is located just off the Transit road running northwards from Maun. After Shorobe where the tar ends the road is a mess; in part sandy, elsewhere uneven and corrugated gravel and long overdue for some grading. Kaziikini offers hard packed, sandy bush sites scattered under the few big trees the elephants have not knocked over but which offer little if any shade. There is a muddy waterhole next to a bush bar/boma and elephants and impala come to drink here frequently in the dry season. There are solar powered hot showers and flush toilets located at various locations some walking distance from the camping spots so care is needed at night to avoid encounters with wildlife. However, there are solar powered floodlights that help in this regard. There is no mains electricity. There are a few portable braais scattered around. Quite expensive at Pula 260 pppn for South Africans and more for internationals but OK for a one night stopover on the way to Moremi or Chobe.

Sauberer Ablution Block, herrliches Vogelgezwitscher, einsam und schön!

Report Check-In

Ridiculous price, but clean ablutions, and big enough.

Report Check-In

Decent campsites on the road to Moremi South gate. Campsites cut into bush, fairly spacious and private. Central ablutions in canvas with hot water. P290 pppn for foreigners, overpriced. Sometimes wildlife in camp, we were told. Bar and restaurant but only serving cold drinks.
