Lake Rio Cuarto | Tourist Attraction

Positives: clear volcanic lake with almost nobody here, relatively cheap day trip (by Costa Rican standards). See other posts for accurate day use fees. Water temp is excellent for swimming and good birding. Deepest lake in CR: 67 meters!

Negatives: very strong odor of cow and pig manure at the lake and in the fields that surround the lake. Renting a kayak is c5000/per person/hour! $$$ The fish nibble your skin while you stand in shallow water (maybe this is a positive?). The wild camp spot overlooking the lake is only one meter off the road and not very level. Did I mention the smell of animal manure!?

Peaceful volcanic lake, smal and beautiful, great for kayaking or padle board, there are bathrooms and cold shower, the price is 1000c pp and 1000c for parking, had no problem with our 25rv, the road is big rig friendly.
