Iraq
Ask the Guard at the entrance for permission. You can camp at the entrance Gate close to the checkpoint. It is not very nice but not a lot of options around. Entrance fee 25’000 IQD pp. We negotiate it but they wasn’t very happy about it. That moment we came close to town (Nasiriyah) from west we got escorted by the police.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
25000 IRD is too much what is offered here. Everything is closed and locked. I think I had to cross 3 check points and I personally find it too expensive just to see a few. I can also get the explanation that is on the board there on the Internet. I didn't have a special feeling, I actually felt annoyed.
Report Check-InI did enjoy visiting the site, it’s worth it only for the impressive ziggurat. Nobody else was here except the guard.
Report Check-InIt’s not really worth to visit, the entrance fee is too high. The building itself are fenced as a have security system with loud speakers. You can only stay at the paved way with only some information.
Report Check-InWe paid 25,000 per person to visit the site. There are toilets. We did not sleep on the site, we had to sleep next to a checkpoint 10 minutes' drive before the site.
Report Check-InWas not possible pass the checkpoint (30.97018° N, 46.04393° E) at the west. They told us to come from direction Nasiriya. Some checkpoints later we could visit Ur.
Not possible to stay ther over night anymore, because of military area.
Entrancefee 25.000 per person
The morning sun would be best for pictures.
