Latest Check-Ins

Looks like in winter there is no charge. A bunch of vans, motor homes and a couple of trucks spent the night here. Ideal!

Report Check-In

Great place if all you want is basic, we’ve stayed three nights in the last week, always a lot of others and some road noise but all good and cheap legal place to stay in the National parks

Report Check-In

The lake campground was full this place was a great option for the night when there is nowhere else to go.

Report Check-In

This is the only place we could find in Banff that does not need reservations. The place was packed but everyone found a spot.

Report Check-In

A bit busy the night we were here, but safe and nice for one night.
Note that you have to leave the place early (8 am)

Report Check-In

We stayed here with many other motor homes. Nice and quiet, lots of space on the hard stand. Pit toilets were clean.

Report Check-In

Great location, lots of space, with stayed outside of the fences and proceed to the self registration, 11,50$ for one night! Some people arrived late and they get space!

Report Check-In

Just as described... definitely a lifesaver. Canada's Park website does not allow you to book a campsite any less than 2 days before your arrival date. very grateful I found this place...

Report Check-In

Don’t be scared off by some of these reviews. This is a very chill spot to spend the night, we stopped by around 2pm to check it out and there was 1 RV… came back around 10pm and there were 30+ vans/campers most of whom were already in their vans asleep. Trash dumpster was full, just pack it out… the magpies will tear up a left out trash bag in no time.

Report Check-In

Parfait pour ne pas payer 40$/nuit, énormément de place !

Report Check-In

Parking lot… but only 11,50$ (that I’m sure not even 50% of the people actually pay since it’s based on honesty). So we stayed one night before our shuttle to lake Louise in the morning.

Report Check-In

Definitely recommend everyone is there to sleep and not party I stayed 2 nights in my mini van slept a solid 8hrs both nights!!!

Report Check-In

Great overnight parking space for $11.05 near Lake Louise. I took a picture of the signage it says $11.04 (as of July 2023). They take credit card and cash - it’s self serve.

Report Check-In

Stay away! Ugly fenced deserted area and they want to charge C$12! The first come first serve campsites are only 10 miles away and only C$23/night.

Report Check-In

simple gravel lot. bit very practical. You can arrive late. always enough space left. We were in the bussiest week around canada day. Close to lake louise.

Report Check-In

Good spot, plenty of space, $11.50/nt. If you are a light sleeper then the highway or train may bother you, thankfully the train doesn't blow horn just a rumble of the engine. I felt the highway was louder but neither woke me. 3 bars 4G Rogers wireless, but speed varied greatly from not loading websites to a max 2up/2dn. This was just on phone may do better with dedicated devices.

Report Check-In

we didn't pay and noone bothered us, there were a ton of rigs and we met ppl who lived there full-time.

Report Check-In

Dirty pot toilet. Large gravel lot. Paid 11 $

Report Check-In

Ranger told us we could camp here because the Lake Louise Campground was full. Paid $11.50 Canadian at a kiosk. Parked in the paved area - not sure if we're on the right side of the fence, but we're staying here. Lots of space. Many other vans and RVs here tonight. Glad we could camp here because after a day hiking Lake Louise trails we were really too tired to drive on toward Jasper. Close to the highway but not too noisy. I expect the trains will keep me awake here just like in the Lake Louise and Tunnel Mountain Village campgrounds since they're on a track behind the lot. Virtually no cell service here.

Report Check-In

Big open lot. Didn’t have to pay anything to sleep overnight. Not sure if tents are allowed but there were plenty of people staying here

Report Check-In

This is the overflow for LL campground at Boat Inspection yard. Enter then turn hard left. 1Night stay only. $12 at time of stay. Huge gravel area off roadside though surprisingly not that noisy. No frills functional location. Tons of room for any size rig. 7 here tonight.

Report Check-In

Quiet, cold and rainy night ... Little noise from the Hwy.

Report Check-In

Great place for a night. Park on gravel side near back, less highway noise. Cost is $11.50/ night with flushable toilets, no other services. Great location between Lake Louise and Banff.

Report Check-In

Weird to think this place fills up. Spent the night here alone. Paid out of the goodness of my heart

Report Check-In

Lawless land. Lots of free fire wood hanging around. Payment is on the go or system.

Report Check-In

$11.50
check-in 6:00 pm, check-out 8:00 am, per signage.
Loud train at 10:55 pm :-)
Great flat lot, plenty of people here, but the people have been quiet overall.

Report Check-In

So glad this is here, sucks there's no boondocking around here. Gotta make that money! speaking of money, it is 11.50 to stay here and it says one night only.the prior reviewers have stayed longer so idk. I got here after dark so I don't know much about it personally except that there are a lot of other rigs here. I am adding photos of the informational sign that talks about payment. 2 bars of T-mobile cell service.

Report Check-In

Got here about 8PM and it was half full. By 11 it was packed. Parked outside of the gate, like many others. About 9 in the morning, 2 personnel came to check on payments. Asked me how the trip was so far, but nothing regarding payment. Perhaps because I was outside of the gate? Can’t say…

Report Check-In

Not a bad place to sleep for the night…offered more open space and privacy than some of the campsites nearby.

Report Check-In

Like many have stated, it’s a parking lot. Great place to spend the night in Banff NP in a van.

Report Check-In

11,5$ now self registration. Stayed 6 night, perfect spot in Banff , very central toward all the hikes and internet service!!!! 2 bars. Like it and very friendly, excellent to compare or talk to other vans ( self build or not) . The over flow is on the right now

Report Check-In

Lots of folks here as some of the other first come first served spots in the park were full or closed on a July weekend. Flat spots, put toilets, not much road noise

Report Check-In

stayed 4 nights here. there is a kiosk where you do a self check-in. envelopes and slips are provided to pay for the nights you are here ($11/night). however- no one comes and checks on it at night. during the day (around 11am, 2am, 4pm) the park rangers came by to refill the envelopes and take any slips people dropped in the box. they did not ask anyone who was there during the day if we paid or not. and there’s no slip or tag you put in your windshield or anything, stating you paid for the night. so… it’s the honor system is all i’m saying.

this is nothing more than a place to sleep. a giant old parking lot (looks to be the old Park N Ride location). there are 2 pit toilets on site and trash cans available. barely any cell. 1 bar Verizon, 1 bar TMobile. no data access. only voice. i also had problems sending texts sometimes. neighbor had Visible Cell Service from the states and had zero service.

this is a clean quite spot though. really- it was some of the best sleep i’ve gotten on the road. everyone here is doing the same thing. just looking for a quite, safe place to get some zzzz’s before hitting Banff, Louise and the unforgettable trails in the area.

i would most definitely stay here again.

Report Check-In

Just a gravel lot, but clean and reasonably quiet for a decent sleep. Had space even on July weekend. Self registration with cash or credit.

Report Check-In

stayed here for the last 5 nichts. geht's pretty full most of the times but enough space. go to the spots at the back of the second field for best Internet service.

Report Check-In

No complaints, tons of other rigs here with ample room. Stayed here 3 nights while checking out the Lake Louise area

Report Check-In

11.04 $ nice spotttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttrrr

Report Check-In

Ótimo lugar para passar a noite, chegamos por volta as 20h, tinha muitos motorhomes estacionados, o local é bem grande, no final do estacionamento tem uma urna e envelopes, aí você paga $11,04. Tem banheiros e o lugar é muito bom.

Great place to spend the night, we arrived around 8pm, there were many motorhomes parked, the parking lot is quite large, at the end of the parking lot there is an urn and envelopes, then you pay $11.04. It has restrooms and the place is very nice.

@enjoytripbr

Report Check-In

Great spot, nice and quiet with a beautiful view of mountains by the highway

Report Check-In

Price is 11,04$, just pay with Cash in an envelope or Credit card written on a paper. desrcibed as above mentioned. Turn right after the entrance, there is a fence around the place.

Report Check-In

Gravel parking lot. There was a sign that says no overnight parking but there were so many camper vans and cars there that parked overnight.

Had a great sleep! No one bothered us. Just make sure you’re gone before 6am.

Report Check-In

We were told you can park overnight in the gravelled area. The paved lot is for park n ride to the lakes. No mention of any cost and no registration booth. Pit toilets in paved lot but not very clean. No fires allowed here.

Report Check-In

NO OVERNIGHT PARKING, its the park and ride bus stop for lake luise, moraine lake

Report Check-In

I was just kicked out at 8:30Am Park staff said it isn't a camp ground and you must leave before 8 AM. Sounds like overnight parking is allowed but you must leave early.

Report Check-In

$10.80/night, HUGE parking lot with pit toilets. There's a truck parking here tonight and he's running the engine all night long, it's so loud even though I park far away from it to the other side of the lot. It's a camp overflow site, not a truck rest and we have to pay for it. I don't understand why trucks would park here. There's some noise from the highway and the train. It's impossible to escape train noise traveling through TransCanada high way from Revelstoke up to here.

Report Check-In

Slept in back of car. HUGE parking lot with washrooms. Came at 8:30pm and lot was empty (4 other cars). This is probably due to low traffic of tourists bcz of pandemic and closures. Slowly increased as evening continued. Great stop after Lake Louise. Fenced off to prevent animals. Quiet sleep, mountainous background. Saw people pitching tents, there is space for that. $10.80 per night.

Report Check-In

Close to the highway but was okay. It was fine for the night. Big trucks next to us with car on. A bit noisy. Its cold so make sure you’re warm enough.

Report Check-In

Gravel Parking lot directly at the TCH. Some traffic noise but it could be worse. Very crowded, no privacy. Free of charge and close to Louise Lake.

Report Check-In

Works well, pretty good for being right in the middle of Banff NP. No water though (can fill up at the official Lake Louise campground). Tons of campers, RVs, people in cars, people in tents... it doesn't seem to fill up really, I've seen people beginning to park along the center etc. Be nice and park close to your neighbors to save space for others...

Report Check-In

Thankful for this overflow parking!
We found a spot for our bus when every single other lot was full. We were almost going to miss seeing lake Louise!

Report Check-In

It costs 10,80 $ every night. The highway at night isn't loud. We spend to nights there, isn't so bad ...

Report Check-In

Not really nice but functional. Door-on-door camping with a noisy highway and annoying generators. Toilets ok. Self registration and payment via cash or credit card. The only option if you want to avoid the expensive campgrounds.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

As of 2019 tents are allowed here (I got info from policeman and a ranger. Parks Canada have not updated all the signs yet, but officially it’s OK). Camping is the right hand lot as seen from the highway. Choose your spot carefully-when it rains puddles and rivulets appear in unfeasible places! As a cyclist with very small tent I was scared of being crushed by a random rapidly reversing RV so after a smart exit from rising waters behind a barrier (see pictures) I camped just in the trees at the top of the bank between the highway and the lot. The toilet is ‘overused’, often there are ques for it and that’s all you get for your self registered $10.80 (Kiosk near toilet). There’s no water so bring it with you (bottle filler behind the mountain shop cycle section in the Village and in the foyer of the VC).

Report Check-In

Came on Saturday at 11:30. There were 3 spots. Got lucky! It was $10.80 Canada dollars. The shuttle bus was right here so it made it easy. It’s just a gravel parking lot- but for the price of just sleeping not bad.

Report Check-In

A very simple parking lot for any size of car. The toilets are not really nice, but cant complain for the price of 10 dollars.

Report Check-In

Slept there one night for free, was okay, next to the highway, nice view though

Report Check-In

People definitely don't exagerate when they say you have to come here early. We pulled over at 8pm and we got the last spot. Self registration at the entrance. If you want to park in Lake Louise you don't need to go that early, we were there at 7am and the parking was almost empty (it's huge), on the contrary, if you want to see the sunrise in Lake Moraine, then you better go there really early, it was already full at 7:20am (they let us pass because we travel with our puppy, and dogs are not allowed in the shuttle buses).

Report Check-In

Very ugly place but functional . It was full at 8 pm. Not very clear if we had to pay or not.

Report Check-In

Very busy, but a practical spot for exploring the area. We stayed three nights and never had to pay.
If you want to be able to get a parking spot at Lake Louise make sure to get up there before 7:30am. The shuttle is $15/person and doesn't run very late.

Report Check-In

Great option for anyone who comes on a weekend during the Sumner!!! The parking lot was full by 6:00pm . Fee was $10.80 .

Report Check-In

Parking also used by Lake Louise Shuttle and hundreds of cars during day. At night hundreds of campers and some truck drivers. Official overflow parking, overnight parking 10$ (however they run out of payment envelopes). Pit toilets and trash cans. No tents allowed, neither pop up roofs nor roof tents. You are not allowed to open them.

Report Check-In

Spent 2 nights there is our van, no problems. Was free to stay. Used also by trucks.

Report Check-In

Not scenic but practical. Was free to park overnight. Free bus shuttle every 15min to both Lake Louise and Moraine Lake! Last bus back at 17:30 and 18:00.

Report Check-In

just to let you know they won't let you stay here in a tent. (even roof top) too much bear action apparently!

Report Check-In

We spent one night here. Since it was not used as an overflow, it was free. Nothing special. Pit toilets.

Report Check-In

Spend 2 nights, nothing special, but free. Thanks for sharing!

Report Check-In

Half is a truckers car park which is free and the other half is the overflow area. Both share the pit toilets. No need to book. Self registration. Several people pitched tents in the surrounding woods near the road and it seemed acceptable and safe.

Report Check-In

Paved and gravel lot. Free if Lake Louise campground is not full. If it is being used as overflow it is $10.80 per night. Info came verbally from park ranger.
