Description

Beautiful free camping with cleanbpit toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables. Keep going across the Clark Reservoir dam then turn right onto Spillway road. Go down the hill to the end. There are 8 level and well maintained sites.

The highlight is a one mile walk through the hotspring wetlands on an old highway. There weren’t too many birds left on my visit mid October but plenty to add to my birding list. Should be an amazing birding site in the spring. The Beaverhead River is shallow and full of algae this time of year but a very pleasant place to camp. I had the place all to myself other than a few daytime users I barely saw.

Freeway noise is minimal. Cell service with Verizon is intermittent. Great place for my dog. Signs ask for dogs to be leashed and picked up after.

A nice place to spend a night. No one was around and you cannot here the highway. About 4 inches of snow, but the road is good
